IRA Claim Roslea bomb

The Irish Republican Army have claimed responsibility for a bomb that was left close to the main road between Roslea and Donagh saying that it was a failed attack on the security forces.

The claims were made to fermanagh newspapers and to media outlets claiming it was an attack on a passing police patrol near Roslea on Sunday, 1st April, the IRA claimed the bomb had failed to detonate after it was fired at a passing police patrol.

There had been alot of speculation in the media and from unionist politicians that the attack was against an ulster unionist councillor in the area but these claims were rubbished and dismissed by the IRA who later admitted to the media that it was a failed attack on a passing police patrol in the area were the device was located.

There was clear intention by some media circles and unionist politicians to stoke up tensions and spin a lie stating that it was some form of ethnic cleansing of the protestant community in the area, when in fact it had nothing to do with the protestant community in Roslea but an attack on the crown forces.
