REPUBLICANS UNITED NEEDED TO END THE ABUSE OF POW’s IN BRITISH GAOL.

The continued abuse of Republican POW’s in Maghaberry Gaol is not only a serious violation of their Human Rights but a reflection of how the British Government and their puppets at Stormont have no answers on how to treat republicans or how to deal with the republican analysis which exposes the continued violation of Irish National Sovereignty.

Mr Francis Mackey, Chairman of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement said, “Republicans have exposed the flaws in the normalisation of British Rule in Ireland and by doing so demonstrated that the British Government and their allies in Stormont can only repeat the repressive practices of the past to subdue the legitimate Republican challenge.

The abuse of POW’s in Maghaberry and the continued internment of Marian Price illustrates how abuse, repression and harassment is the extent of the thinking the British and the parties in Stormont are prepared to go rather than trying to end the political conditions which allows this inhumane practice to continue”.

Continuing Mr Mackey said, “ It is imperative the Republican base and particularly all republican Organisations, Societies and Individuals stand united and firmly behind the campaign to end the political abuse of republicans.

I appeal for Unity of Republican purpose to bring pressure to bear on the parties in Stormont to end the practice of Strip Searching as a first step in ending the protest in this gaol.

What concerns me most is the pressure on these men and I would fear such continued pressure would escalate and I personally do not want to see a repeat of history in this regard.

Therefore what ever actions are necessary should be explored to bring this issue to a successful conclusion.”

32CSM new year statement 2012

As 2011 draws to a close we send greetings to our supporters and activists at home and abroad. We salute the dedication and enthusiasm shown by all during the past year. It has been a difficult year for Republicans, we have seen ever increasing levels of harassment of our activists on both sides of the border. This has extended beyond the targeting of individuals and is now being used as a tool of coercion against extended families and whole communities. The true nature of the six county state has been revealed as in the past year it has reverted to type. We have witnessed the reintroduction of the supergrass trial, political policing, sectarian marches and the criminalizing of Republican POWs.

The 32CSM salutes the courage of the POWs in both Maghaberry and Portlaoise in the past year. An agreement that was signed in good faith by the POWs was reneged on by the prison service, but it is the British government and their accomplices at Stormont who bare the ultimate responsibility for the ongoing crisis. We call on them to recognize the agreement and to end the degrading and unnecessary strip searches.
We send greetings and solidarity to Marian Price, interned once again in a British gaol. Marian’s case should not be of interest only to republicans but to all who profess a concern for human rights and justice. The 32CSM will step up and expand our campaign in 2012 to highlight this blatant disregard for Marian’s human rights. We will not stop until she is back with her family and comrades.

The economic situation in Ireland has not only deteriorated in the past year it has exposed the fundamental contradiction in Capitalism and those who adhere to it in this country. Whilst the majority are told to shoulder the burden of the few, those who exploit and betray the working class remain immune. The 32CSM has laid out the framework for a new Ireland, sovereign politically, economically and socially on the basis that it is the people of Ireland who must decide how their country functions. The occupation of the six counties by an Imperialist power is mirrored now in the 26 counties by an administration that is directed by the IMF. The power wielded by both imperialism and capitalism in Ireland is an impediment to the Republic envisioned by Connolly, Lalor, Pearse and Tone.

The forces of resistance ranged against these twin impediments to progress are multifaceted in both their approach and character. The 32CSM recognizes that whilst the cause of the conflict in Ireland is left out of political discourse then the solution will remain out of reach. The IRA has struck against the forces of the occupation and the capitalist institutions that enable and compliment the efforts of normalization. The IRA are not the cause of conflict in Ireland they are a response to the conditions created by Imperialism in Ireland. The 32CSM believes that there is no room for ambiguity on the issue of resistance. To refuse to engage with those who acknowledge that resistance is inevitable and legitimate is to endorse the establishment narrative.

The 32CSM in 2011 showed our resolute commitment to make our Republicanism an active and relevant ideology. Our activists have been to the forefront in an array of campaigns across Ireland. Whether it is the issue of drug abuse in working class communities or right wing economic cuts against services we have recognized that it is imperative for us to respond to the needs of our communities. In the coming year we will enhance and broaden this social commitment and articulate our vision of a Republicanism that will meet the needs of the people of Ireland and provide a framework for political and social liberation.

We will continue the struggle in the coming year and we are confident that with courage and a sincere commitment to Republican values it will be a year of success and a defiant response to those who seek to destroy our movement and all it stands for.

MI5 Try To Recruit Fermanagh Man

The 32CSM in Fermanagh would like to take this opportunity to condemn the actions of the PSNI and British security services in their recent attempts to harass and victimise a young Fermanagh Republican.

The young man, who does not wish to be named, comes from the Lisnaskea area. Over the past six months he has been stopped and searched a total of 71 times by the PSNI under the terrorism act.

On each occasion he was subjected to a full body search. When stopped in a friend’s car, the car and all the occupants would be searched also.

The most worrying development however came last week when the young republican was travelling to Liverpool to visit relatives. He was stopped and held by Special Branch and M15 operatives in Belfast International Airport for over half an hour, and questioned about his association with named republicans in Fermanagh and Donegal. During this time he was asked to gather information on the individuals’ movements and associates.

The young republican refused and asked could he leave as he would miss his flight. The mood in the room changed quickly and the young man was threatened with arrest and a subsequent jail sentence while being accused of things he knew nothing about.

After it was clear the man had no idea what they were talking about, he was left continue on his way with the warning that he would see them again. The man was offered £500 pound cash to start with, and it was said that there will be more to follow if he co-operated.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement would like to commend the brave actions of this young Lisnaskea man and would like to thank him for coming forward with this worrying information. Attempting to recruit the young man as an informer showed a total disregard for his safety, and life.

Anyone who experiencing pressure such as this from the PSNI or MI5 is asked to contact your local 32CSM Cumann so they can highlight and challenge what is happening.

A Protest has been Organised by Republicans in Fermanagh to highlight the plight of all the Republican POWs in Maghaberry who are currently being tortured by the Jail Administration and its workforce. The Protest will also highlight the case of Veteran Republican Marian Price who was interned recently and who is currently isolated on a landing of her own in Maghaberry Jail. It is incumbent that all Republicans can make an effort to attend this Protest on Saturday 17th of September 3pm outside Lisnaskea Police Station.

The arrest of a Coalisland man, his family home raided and trumped up charges made against him by British Policing in Ireland amount to internment by remand.
Mr Shane Coleman of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Tyrone said, “The arrest of Kevin Murphy and the raid on his family home is an increase in the harassment and intimidation suffered by this family over many years.”
“Mr Murphy is another in a long line on the conveyor belt of internment within the corrupt British judicial system in Ireland. Marian Price is another recent example of how the British Government assisted by their lackeys in Stormont deal with republicans who expose the violation of Irish National Sovereignty.”
Continuing Mr Coleman said, “I call on all Republicans to stand firm against this attack by the discredited PSNI on the republican and Nationalist community and to send a firm message to the establishment in Stormont and London that this failed tactic of internment by remand will fail again. It would appear they have learned nothing from the past 40 years and have no alternative but to repeat history with their failed policies in Ireland.
There is only one solution and that is for the British Government to relinquish their illegal sovereign claim to part of the Irish Nation and bring an end to this intimidation and harassment of the Irish people”.

POWs Savagely Beaten

Kevin Barry Nolan and Gerard McManus were forcibly strip searched yesterday before leaving Maghberry for court.They reported that when leaving for court it was the usual rough strip search by the riot squad dressed in boiler suits but that all changed on their return.

They were met by the riot squad dressed in full riot gear and when they refused to strip they attacked them.They put them on the ground and brutally removed their clothing, they twisted their arms up their backs and were trailing them around by their beards raining blows on their bodies and all the while shouting (for the benefit of the tape) stop resisting the search. Neither of them resisted the search in any way.

When the brutal strip search was over they were ordered to stand up which they refused, the riot squad then attacked them again while they were lying on the floor. They have received injuries and are covered in cuts and bruises. Tensions are high on the wing, the riot squad are taunting the lads and blocking them in when they are being escorted to the phone or for visits.

All the POWs have remarked that the screws/riot squad have upped the ante lately and are constantly trying to get an excuse to get stuck into a POW resulting in a number of POWs receiving beatings in this last week.

Statement from Republican POWs, Maghaberry, 4th Aug 2011

Following the resumption of protest action at the start of May we explained in detail the reasons why we were forced into this action. It has been clear to us from the signing of the 12th August agr...eement that a “claw back” policy was in place by the gaol admin/NIO. Since our protest resumed we have met with the assessment team, who David Ford put in place immediately after the signing of the agreement to monitor its implementation. This group were to give reports to Ford at different periods on progress, or the lack of it from either party to the agreement. Their first report was produced in October 2010, 2 months after the signing of the agreement and 7 months before the resumption of our protest. This report dealt with issues that had arisen around the failures of the gaol admin/NIO to implement key areas of the agreement.

It went on to make 6 recommendations to resolve these areas but failed to act, as had the prison service in countless damning reports in the past. These recommendations dealt with strip searching entering and leaving the prison and the area around controlled movement, both of these issues were dealt with in the August agreement.

We have stated both to the assessment team and gaol admin long before protest action resumed that the implementation of these recommendations would defuse tensions around the failure of the gaol admin/NIO to implement the original August agreement and deal with the core issues that originally brought about protest in 2010 which ended in the signing of the 12th August agreement. Unfortunately Ford, the gaol admin/NIO failed to grasp the severity of the situation and failed to implement the August agreement in full or these recommendations.

During the 9 months from the August 2010 agreement was signed and the resumption of our protest, the POWs worked tirelessly to have these issues resolved, regularly debating and planning our road ahead. Only when we were left with no alternative we resumed protest action. We embarked on this stage of protest in the knowledge that a long battle lay ahead and our protest could last a lengthy period. The August agreement was supposed to be a foundation for all republican POWs to build on and bring about a wing conducive to our republican principles.

The failure to implement this agreement has made it impossible for this foundation to take hold. When only one side to any agreement show the willingness required to make it work, it is doomed at a very early stage. These failures lie at the feet of David Ford and the gaol admin/NIO. We have reached stalemate. There is no agreement. There is nothing on the horizon to give us any confidence that Ford or the Brits are willing to deal with the issues, on the contrary Ford would rather use the media to give a fixed position rather than face up to the loyalist P.O.A and bigoted gaol admin. All this together proves that our original thoughts that this protest is now set to be a very lengthy battle.

We will not entertain anything short of our original demands which brought about the failed August agreement. We therefore call on family and comrades at home and abroad to show support, for what is only the beginning of a long hard battle ahead and we thank you for all your continued support.

32csm Statement in Response to Marian Price Charges

In a blatant attempt to disguise the political reality that internment is in use the British authorities have brought fabricated charges against republican Marian Price to portray her detention as being ordered by a court and not a British Minister.

This same British Minister has interned others, including Brendan Lillis, who is critically ill, and all calls for his immediate release have fallen on deaf and indifferent ears. Is this the so called new beginning widely hailed by those who are administrators of this insidious regime?

Marian Price was interned on the day the micro ministers in Stormont were appointing another puppet, a so called ‘Justice Minister’; these charges also protect that position from exposure as being a toothless façade. Nothing has changed.
The criminalisation policy of the British government towards Irish republicans continues as does our steadfast resistance to it.

These actions demonstrate clearly the failure of the so called peace process to address the root cause of the conflict.

The 32CSM calls for the immediate release of Marian Price, Brendan Lillis and all political detainees. We call for the implementation of the agreement in Maghaberry and an immediate end to political policing.

32csm Stands United with Newtownbutler Residents

Fermanagh 32CSM stands with Newtownbutler residents

The 32CSM Cumann in Fermanagh welcome the Parades Commission decision to not allow the Border Defenders band from entering the village of Newtownbutler on the 8th of July. The 32csm want to make clear our total and resolute opposition to any proposed Loyalist march through the village of Newtownbutler in the future we believe there should be no Loyalist marches in the village whatsoever. It is our belief that these marches are being planned by the various organisations responsible solely to raise tension and promote triumphalist attitudes.

A threat recently issued by the so called LVF, a deeply sectarian Loyalist Paramilitary group, should in our opinion be taken seriously. Threatening to shoot an apolitical music group if 'they' are not let march through the village is beyond insanity. It portrays the deep Catholic and Protestant divide embedded in their beliefs and in the beliefs of the people who will be descending on this rural village if this march is not let proceed. With this in mind Local residents are further concerned after watching the 500/700 UVF aligned Loyalists unprovoked attack on the nationalist Short Strand area in Belfast in a two day siege recently in which Loyalist gunmen fired shots at St Matthews church and wrecked Nationalist residents homes. The 32csm will stand united with the residents of the village and not allow this to happen.

It is clear that the residents of Newtownbutler are completely opposed to these marches through the village, a village which has an overwhelming majority of a 98% nationalist population. The feelings of the residents have been made clear both to the Border Defenders and the parades commission.

The Border defenders bandsmen do not live in the village, they are coming from outside Newtownbutler in an attempt to further highlight their views that their nationalist neighbours do not deserve to be treated in a respectful manner.

The 32CSM in Fermanagh has been to the forefront in the fight against sectarian parades. We have seen first hand the result of facilitating unwanted parades in the past during the Garvaghy road crisis. The decision was taken to end the intimidation of residents. That was the right decision then and we believe it is the right decision to take now. We will stand by the people of Newtownbutler should they choose to protest this march. We will not stand idly by while another community is subjected to the ugly manifestation of sectarianism that these marches represent.

Finally to those Loyalists who are planning to come and cause trouble on the 8th of July we would ask you to stay away from Newtownbutler as you are not welcome the 32csm will stand united with other Republicans and the Newtownbutler residents to defend the village if need be.

32CSM condemn Tom Elliott’s remarks

The Ard Comhairle of the 32csm wishes to condemn recent remarks made by Tom Elliott, the leader of the UUP. Mr Elliot in the past week has called on Owen Patterson to revoke the licence of ex POW and 32csm member John Connolly. This comment came in the wake of John attending an anti-royal visit protest in Dublin. At the protest two masked members of the crowd burned a union jack. John was not involved in this incident, nor did the Gardaí arrest the individuals who burned the flag. Despite these facts Mr Elliott regards John’s presence at a republican protest as sufficient reason to have his licence revoked.

This is not merely a repetition of Tom Elliott’s familiar anti republican rhetoric. Rather we see this as a further step in a sinister pattern that has resulted in a number of ex POWs either being imprisoned on trumped up charges or having their licence revoked due to their political stance.

In the past two weeks our national secretary Marian Price had her licence revoked for attending an Easter commemoration in Derry. In the same week two members of Republican Sinn Fein were charged under obscure legislation of "supporting terrorism" for stating in an interview that they supported the right of republicans to engage in armed struggle.

Mr Elliott referred to Marian as a terrorist and justified her internment on those grounds. Given his own lengthy involvement in the UDR who colluded with Loyalist paramilitaries surely he himself qualifies for similar treatment?

This latest statement is not merely a publicity stunt; rather it is an open call for internment and political censorship. John Connolly was released in 2007. He is a well respected community activist and an unashamed republican.

Tom Elliot is in effect calling for all ex POWs opposed to the GFA to be interned for their beliefs. Given the case of Martin Corey we do not think that this is mere hyperbole but rather a very distinct strategy being utilized by the British administration in an attempt to silence republicans.

The 32csm stands fully behind John as well as all of the republican ex POWs that Tom Elliott is trying to intimidate and censor. We send solidarity greetings to Marian, Martin and the other republicans imprisoned in Maghaberry for refusing to abandon their beliefs. We urge all republicans to support these individuals in any way they can.

Once again, if further proof were needed, political policing in the Six Counties is demonstrated by the arrest and charging of 32CSM member Marian Price.

These events are unquestionably linked to the impending royal visit to the Twenty Six County state and is a clear message that her auxiliary police force’s primary role is to quell Irish dissent against her remit in Ireland.

Amid all the hype of normality and repeated mantras of ‘moving on’ the cause of the conflict in Ireland has not gone away. The British Auxiliary police force continues with its political function, emboldened by the support it now receives from establishment nationalists.

In tandem with these actions we see the continued brutalising of republican prisoners in Maghaberry as part of an overall strategy against Irish republicanism.

It will fail as surely as the silence from former republicans will be deafening.

BREAKING NEWS: Republican POWs Resume Protest In Maghaberry

Republican prisoners in Maghaberry resume protest action.

Over one year has passed since republican prisoners commenced a

protest to end strip searching and controlled movement in

Maghaberry. The protest ended on the 12th August 2010 after a

facilitated agreement was reached between prisoners and gaol

admin/NIO which was supposed to have ended strip searching and

“phased out” controlled movement within the landings of republican

prisoners. As with previous agreements between republican

prisoners and the British, the British immediately began to claw

back on their position and in the case of this agreement even

introduced new and more degrading measures. As a group of non-

conforming republican prisoners, we fought against these measures

and have worked tirelessly to have the 12th August agreement

implemented. To achieve change we have to resist. To challenge

such a regime comes at a cost.

Since the signing of the August agreement over 60 forced strip

searches has taken place and the phased ending of controlled

movement hasn’t materialised. By this stage, May 2011, we should

have unfettered access to our two landings with cell doors

remaining open all day. Instead, ten screws have to be in place

before movement begins, with a maximum of six out on landings at

any one time. A “forum” involving prisoner representatives and

gaol admin was put in place as part of the agreement to sort areas

of contention, meeting on a monthly basis, but as non-conforming

prisoners, we refuse to take part in this “talking shop” whilst forced

strip searching and controlled movement remain in place. Other

areas that need to be addressed are too numerous to go into detail

but one example is that when a republican is arrested, he can

expect to spend up to 28 days in an interrogation centre, then if

charged, he’s brought to Maghaberry where he can expect to be

held on landings with loyalists and drug dealers for weeks (in some

cases months) before being transferred to the republican landings.

This is only one of many disgraceful issues that have been allowed

to continue unchallenged for too long. We will not stand idly by as

comrades suffer.

In recent months, we have released two separate documents

relating to the agreement of August 2010 and conditions within

Maghaberry. In both documents we called publicly for unity

between all prisoners, stating that we believed unity was our

strength and would benefit us all if we moved forward collectively.

We asked the other groups of prisoners and anyone outside with

influence and aligned to them to help to achieve this unity.

Unfortunately several months have passed and we have received

no response from either. We are conscious of the fact that a

significant number of POWs who agreed with our analysis and

actions required to obtain our objectives were fully supportive of us

but withheld that support. We now believe that most of those now

have the confidence to vocally show that support and indeed join

us in our struggle. We openly and genuinely welcome those

comrades and any others who share our view regarding gaol

struggle.

Our objective is to establish a republican wing with republican

principles at its core. As republicans we will do whatever it takes to

achieve this. This will necessitate the ending of strip searching and

controlled movement per the agreement of August 2010. We

cannot and will not allow or facilitate any attempt to criminalise

republican prisoners any longer. We ask families, comrades and

republicans at home and abroad for renewed support as we enter

protest action to secure our rights as republicans. Strip searching

remains! Controlled movement remains! Our determination to end

them also remains!

Protest action has commenced at 10pm, Friday 6th May 2011.

IRA Easter Statement 2011

The leadership of Oglaigh na hEireann extend Easter greetings and solidarity to all our friends and supporters both nationally and internationally, we extend our thanks to anyone who has helped the republican cause in any way and express our gratitude in advance for your assistance in the future. Everyone can make a contribution to the Irish freedom struggle, no part is too small.

The Republican movement wish to commend our volunteers for the courage, commitment and discipline they have shown in the face of huge odds, the republican struggle is entering a crucial phase with our enemies united in trying to end republican resistance once and for all, they will fail. In order to combat the forces of repression and partition republicans must think strategically and pragmatically. Republican unity must remain a key objective and aspiration for all republicans, for our part the IRA have worked closely with other organisations in every way and we will do so in the future. A united republican base is much more able to withstand the onslaught of the united forces of occupation.

Special mention must be made of the republican POW's in Maghaberry and their continued resistance to the torturous prison regime in place there. To those who say that the British occupation of Ireland has changed we say why, 30 years after 10 brave comrades died in British jails in Ireland, are Irishmen still fighting for political status and still being brutalised for doing so? We ask for your continued support for these captured volunteers who will never submit to degradation and criminalisation. We send greetings to the IRA unit in Portlaoise and send solidarity and support to republicans held overseas.

Oglaigh na hEireann call on any young nationalist who may have been sold the lie that the RUC/PSNI is somehow an reformed, non political police service to think again, those who think they are serving their community are in fact serving the occupation and will be treated as such.
The GAA, Catholic church and constitutional nationalism will be unable to protect those who turn traitor, they are as liable for execution as anyone else regardless of their religion, cultural background or motivation.

The IRA repeat our warnings to civilians to stay away from the scenes of IRA attacks or alerts, we have noticed a pattern developing whereby the RUC/PSNI are deliberately putting civilians at risk. These so called modern day heroes were brave enough to allow hundreds of non combatants to pass a large IRA bomb in Newry,we do not believe that this was sheer incompetence of their behalf but a calculated action aimed at putting civilians in the danger zone to protect themselves and discredit republicans. With this in mind we ask both the public and all volunteers to be careful and vigilant, with the occupation forces coming under increased pressure from the resistance movement they are more likely to take drastic action out of desperation.

It has come to the attention of the republican leadership that in a number of areas across the country criminal gangs are using the cover of republicanism to further their own selfish ends, this will not be tolerated, a harsh sentence will be dealt to anyone misusing the name of the IRA. Too many have paid the ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of our noble ideal to allow it to be sullied by criminals masquerading as republicans, anyone involved in this should stop and stop now.

Oglaigh na hEireann urge all self respecting Irishmen and women to resist the upcoming insult that is the visit of a British monarch to Irish soil, the criminal free state government invite is not on behalf of the Irish people but to further the selfish interests of a self serving elite.
Despite the best efforts of the media, big business, and other power blocks to portray this visit as acceptable we clearly state that the Irish people will not capitulate. The queen of England is wanted for war crimes in Ireland and not wanted on Irish soil. we will do our best to ensure she and the gombeen class that act as her cheerleaders get that message.

Finally we wish to state clearly and unequivocally that the leadership of the IRA is not in any negotiations with the British government, Free state government or anyone that represents them. Those who continually repeat this lie must explain their actions and we must clearly question their motivation, to them we say, don't judge the IRA by your standards. If the British are serious about discussing the restoration of Irish sovereignty then we will listen to their proposals, anything else is a waste of time. The IRA, in cooperation with others will continue to resist occupation to the best of our ability, anything less would be a betrayal of all those Brave men and women who fill our graveyards this Easter.

Republicans take no satisfaction in the death of anyone; the death of PSNI/RUC member Ronan Kerr does not fill republicans with joy, quite the opposite in fact. The continued occupation means that while regrettable, further deaths of those who shore up and defend that occupation are inevitable. In order to instigate a real peace process in Ireland those ultimately responsible for the occupation i.e. the British government need to address the root cause of the Irish conflict, the continued violation of Irish national sovereignty.

The great and the good within the catholic church, the GAA and constitutional nationalism have predictably lined up to sing in unison with the British administration in Ireland. It would seem that they are using the death of Ronan Kerr to their own advantage.

It is important to note that many of those who now condemn the killing of a member of the British police in Ireland once actively resisted their presence whether catholic or protestant. It is not that long ago that the GAA refused to allow members of the British security forces to be members of their organisation.

Michael Ferguson, a 21 year old catholic RUC man from Omagh was shot dead a number of years ago in Shipquay Street outside Dunnes Stores by the IRA. Far from calling on the people of Derry to inform on the perpetrators of this attack a prominent Provisional politician from the city ordered the fire bombing of Dunnes Stores exactly one week later to prevent the RUC from carrying out a reconstruction in to this young officer’s death.

This same power junkie can now be seen regularly with the discredited British police commander Matt Baggot condemning current IRA actions.
It is no surprise to republicans that the Catholic Church has stood behind the forces of occupation and partition; they have a long history of this. Dan Breen executed two catholic Irish speaking RIC members during the tan war; the catholic hierarchy said that hell wasn't hot enough for the perpetrators. A lot has been made of the fact that Ronan Kerr was a catholic, Tom Williams went to the gallows for killing a catholic RUC man, how can he be a republican hero and Ronan Kerr be a modern day hero, how can those who killed Kerr be "worse than traitors"?

The British administration in Ireland constantly claim that republicans are using young men as pawns for their own selfish political ends, what was that same administration doing with young Ronan Kerr, selling him the glory of serving his community in a British uniform. The reality is that death means nothing to the British whether in Ireland, Afghanistan or Libya. Hundreds have died in the last few weeks at the hands of the British and their allies with their cruise missiles yet none of them are worthy of a mention. Young men like Ronan Kerr are pawns being used by the British and their local allies to shore up a failed internal settlement.

While everyone is entitled to their own opinions on the killing of Ronan Kerr we must expose the hypocrisy of those seeking to use his death to harm the republican position. It has always been the republican position that all death is regrettable and all deaths of this nature can be avoided by the causes of conflict being confronted rather than ignored.

The RUC/PSNI have been repeatedly harassing and abusing republicans for years. The PSNI’s primary role is to enforce British rule on a section of the Irish people. When young Irish men and women join the British police force in Ireland the dangers involved can not be lost on them. Those who constantly encourage young people to join the PSNI in the full knowledge of the dangers involved cannot shirk the moral responsibility when deaths like that of Ronan Kerr occur.

Peter Robinson’s deputy Martin Mc Guinness has called for people to inform on republicans. The question that should be asked of Mc Guinness is that people who may have information on those who killed Michael Ferguson in Shipquay Street in 1993 inform on Volunteers who carried out the attack, if not, why not.

End the hypocrisy, end the occupation, end the war.

The Vol Jimmy Connolly Cumann Roslea 32 County Sovereignty Movement (32csm) condemns in the strongest terms the searching of two young school children by the PSNI on St Patricks day. The search took place in the village when families were out enjoying the parade unawares that two young children, a 15yr old and the other only 13, were being subjected to a search by members of the PSNI.

A parent of one of the young boys contacted members of the local 32csm cumann in Roslea who said he was deeply traumatised by the search and scared to go outside after it happened. When the parents asked their children why did the police search them the two young boys said that the police said we ‘looked suspicious’. "Within the last month, the RUC/PSNI are upping the ante with regards to the targeting and deliberate harassment of individuals unconnected to the movement in the Roslea area.

The PSNI/RUC have changed tact and now regularly target family, children and friends of members of the 32csm. The 32csm condemn the recent upsurge in RUC/PSNI activity against the nationalist community in Roslea and across the occupied area. " It is blatantly obvious that someone at the top of the British security establishment has passed down the diktat for the RUC/PSNI to take the gloves off and to intensify their vigorous campaign of intimidation and harassment against nationalists and republicans and their families.”

Republicans are being stopped and searched on sight by the RUC/PSNI in the north and in many cases being followed around towns and cities in a blatant fashion. It is quite normal for republicans to see heavily armed police in armoured cars cruising slowly past their homes numerous times per day or setting up checkpoints near the homes of republicans.

Republicans must view this as a sign of a defeat in the ranks of the RUC/PSNI: the RUC was supposed to have disappeared and the PSNI was to be the new 'peacetime' police service but due to the growing support for the republican position in defence of Irish national sovereignty the PSNI have been forced to publicly admit that this transition cannot take place.

The police service is exposed as a military police force and the PSNI mask has slipped to very publicly reveal the un-rehabilitated RUC. These attempts at crushing the republican position through intimidation will not deter republicans, if anything they only serve to strengthen the resolve of the republican family.

Statement details organisation's plan to 'expand theatre of operations'

The Real IRA has threatened to expand its campaign in 2011 and is planning gun and bomb attacks on a wide range of British military, commercial, political and judicial targets.

In a new year statement released exclusively to the Sunday Tribune, the paramilitary organisation said the security forces were completely failing to deal with the threat it posed.

In the past 12 months, the Real IRA carried out several bombings, but it has not inflicted any fatalities on the security forces since it murdered two British soldiers at Massereene in March 2009, nor has it launched any attacks in Britain.

In its statement, the Real IRA Army Council said: "In the year to come, the leadership of Óglaigh na hÉireann will strive to expand the theatre of our operations in line with our strategy. We will continue to target institutions and personnel in the military, political, policing, justice and commercial and economic fields." The Real IRA said it had learned from "past mistakes" which it didn't detail.

It has previously taken ruthless action against those whom it claims "collaborate with British rule in Ireland". It deliberately shot and tried to kill two workers delivering pizzas to the soldiers at Massereene.

The paramilitary group repeated this threat. "Those who actively engaged in the occupation of Ireland and those who assist this occupation are the enemies of the Irish people," it said. In recent months, the Real IRA launched bomb attacks on Newry courthouse and the Ulster Bank in Derry. Catholic police officer Peadar Heffron lost a leg and narrowly escaped death when a bomb planted by another dissident group exploded under his car.

The Real IRA claimed that continuing dissident attacks showed that the two governments' policy of normalisation of life in the North had failed.

"In the past year, there has been no mistaking the fact that a conflict exists in occupied Ireland. The British, Free State, and colonial parliament in the six counties have collectively been unable to conceal or deal with this fact," it said.

It dismissed raids by the security forces and the arrest and conviction of republican dissidents. "None of the above measures have worked in the past, nor will they work now," it said. In a reference to the Provisional movement, which strongly opposes republican dissidents, it said the gulf between the two was now huge.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement will not tolerate the treatment of Colin Duffy by the prison regime in Maghaberry jail and we urge all republican, socialist and progressive thinkers to refuse to tolerate it also.

Colin has been the victim of a number of serious physical and sexual assaults by prison officers on his way to and from court proceedings.

The prisoners and the prison service had reached an agreement last month to end a protest by republican POW’s that included an end to all strip searching. Since reaching the agreement a number of prisoners have been forcibly stripped and beaten.

It is clear that this is not the result of teething problems by prison officers settling into the new system but a deliberate policy of the NIPS to break prisoners unity and morale.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement urge the prison service to honour their agreements before this situation gets out of control and somebody is seriously hurt on either side.

32CSM Response To Adams Comments

We can confirm that correspondence was received by the 32 County Sovereignty Movement from Provisional Sinn Fein wherein they asked for a meeting to discuss the republican prisoner situation in Maghaberry and wider political issues.

We in turn responded to acknowledge their correspondence and to inquire as to what it was they were proposing. They rejoined by suggesting named persons would be in contact to arrange an official meeting. No such contact has been received by us to date.

We treated this correspondence as private. We close no doors in seeking a resolution to the crisis in Maghaberry. We impose no agendas nor accept them being imposed on us. Our position on the national question is clear and in the public arena.

If Mr Adams felt it necessary to publicise this correspondence before any meetings took place we can only conclude that publicity was indeed his agenda as opposed to working constructively with us, away from the restrictions of the public glare, to resolve the ongoing crisis in Maghaberry.

We remain focussed and will not be distracted in organising on behalf of the prisoners and their families.

Fermanagh 32 CSM Attend National POW March in Lurgan Co Armagh

Sunday 25th July saw the inaugural National POW protest which was organised by the Friends and families of the POWs.The invitation to march extended to all shades of Republicanism to take to the streets of Lurgan and show solidarity with the POWs in Maghaberry who are suffering abhorrent treatment at the hands of the British sectarian POA,their lackeys and their draconian regime.

The RUC in Derry passed the assembly point where local members of the 32csm had gathered to board their transport and went round several times mocking and gesticulating to the marchers in the hope of provoking a reaction.

When no reaction was forthcoming, the RUC then left and set up checkpoints outside the city.

The bus duly arrived at one of the checkpoints and the RUC ordered everyone off .As is their usual they attempted to goad members before settling on the tactic of refusing to allow them back on the Bus.They stated that one of the tyres was worn and refused to let the Bus continue forcing the marchers to walk the couple of miles back to the city.

The tactic failed though as hundreds of Republicans gathered in Lurgan to show solidarity with the Republican POWs whose courage,steadfastness and resolve in the face of continued and excessive barbarity by the British system acts as an inspiration to us all.

The RUC had set up in Lurgan and vigorously set to work on the cars and buses of marchers in an attempt to harass and intimidate Republicans from attending but their tactic failed miserably as the crowd swelled.

Lurgan itself was locked down with rows of RUC jeeps blocking the road in an attempt to halt the march but they were outflanked and outwitted by the contingency plans of the organisers who had in advance plotted alternate routes to cope with this type of eventuality and so continued to the rally point leaving the bewildered RUC looking on.

Speakers at the Rally point were Maura McCrory, formerly of the Relatives action committee & anti H Block committee, Paul Duffy (Brother of Colin Duffy ) and Gary Donnelly who read out the statement from the POWs.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Fermanagh condemn in the strongest terms the arrest,charge, and internment of Tyrone Republican and EX POW Conor Casey from Cookstown.

To be an Irish Republican today with a belief in ending British rule in the six counties and restoring national sovereignty and re-unification is a crime in the eyes of Britain’s administration here.

To campaign politically in pursuit of these aims is so great a crime that you could find yourself effectively interned and spending a considerable number of years in prison as a result.

One has only to examine this case where Ex Republican POW Conor Casey was arrested and charged under new British terror laws for attending the funeral of his friend and comrade John Brady who died at the hands of the British PSNI/RUC.

Various similar cases which have been thrown out of court after several years, or to look at the length of time, in a number of cases, over two years, which individuals such as that of Belfast Republican and Ex POW Terry Mc Cafferty serves as a stark reminder to all of us.

And of course, that system of internment by remand is compounded by a judicial system which makes the conditions for securing bail extremely difficult.

Gardai/ERU Search farmland along Fermanagh/Monaghan border

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement condemns the Gardai and the ERU, Emergency Response Unit, for a recent search operation it carried out on farmland in the townland of Drumully on the Fermanagh/Monaghan border last week.

The owner of the land that was being searched contacted a member of the 32csm in Fermanagh to say that he confronted heavily armed men on his land last week who said they were from the Gardai.

The man, who does not wish to be named, is a local farmer, said that he was awakened in the early hours of the morning last week by his dogs barking. As the man went outside to check he saw a large amount of men with guns out on his land and in his outbuildings.

Shocked at these events that where unfolding before him the man then cautiously approached these armed men to see what they were doing on his land as he confronted them they stated that they were Gardai and produced badges of identification to the man and said that they were carrying out a routine search.

When asked by the farmer what they were searching for they said "it’s in relation to terrorist activity in the area".

The search went on for a number of hours and nothing was found.

There were no Garda vehicles present during the search. When the search was over unmarked vehicles with Southern registrations and blackened out windows removed the armed party from the scene and sped in the direction of Clones.

The 32csm in Fermanagh condemns this invasive and intimidating activity by the Gardai. We ask people who may notice suspicious activity or have been the focus of other unknown Gardai/ERU searches in the area to come forward to the 32csm in Fermanagh so as to expose this blatant harassment of vulnerable people.

A public meeting is to be held in Conway Mill, Falls Road, on Saturday 29 May 2010.

The Concerned Families and Friends of Maghaberry prisoners note with dismay the continuing deterioration of conditions in Maghaberry prison. On Thursday 6th May Harry Fitzsimmons was forcibly removed from his cell and placed in isolation. During this process the screws beat Harry.

• We demand the immediate removal of Harry Fitzsimmons from the isolation unit and his return to the main wing with the rest of his friends.
• We demand immediate medical attention for Harry and express our concern at the manner in which he was removed from his cell and beaten by screws.
• We demand the immediate reinstatement of the humane and safe living conditions within the prison regime which were implemented following the tragic hunger strikes of 1981.

The situation in the prison could be remedied quite rapidly with no loss of face on either side given that the prisoners are not asking for new demands or new mechanisms which have not previously been granted, and could quite easily be reintroduced. Ends.

The Treatment of Republican POW’s is Horrendous

The treatment of Republican Prisoners Of War and political prisoners alike in Maghaberry gaol is nothing short of disgusting and inhumane. The abusive treatment by Prison employees has escalated drastically in the past few weeks.

Recently Republicans have been informed that they will receive no showering facilities, no visits, no phone calls and no exercise time, this is clearly in breach of their human rights. Another issue that seems to be part of the screws plan of action is withholding food from the men for days on end, another very serious breach of human rights.

Strip searches have become another weapon of choice for Maghaberry screws it is being used in such a fashion as to humiliate the Republicans under their control. It was also being used extensively against family and friends visiting the gaol.

Strip searches were being carried out a highly inappropriate number of times, even when men were walking from wing to wing they were being intermittently searched when they had no possibility to have received contraband items. Due to the wide spread use of this tactic Republicans have refused to strip down past their boxer shorts resulting in numerous beatings.

Numerous men are being sent to the SSU (Special Supervision Unit), this was previously called the Punishment Unit but was later renamed. The understanding of these actions by Republicans is that this is just another excuse to try and separate Republicans and break their morale.

Most personal belongings have been stripped from the men’s cells, leaving them with nothing but a mattress and the clothes they stand in. When Republicans saw a comrade receiving a severe beating by a number of balaclava clad screws, in protest and in the hope of stopping the vicious assault they wrecked their cells, including their toilets and sinks, this obviously flooded their rooms, where they had to stay for the duration of the night with a six inch puddle of water surrounding them. When the screws did eventually move the prisoners to dry cells while they clear the rooms, they soaked the POW’s mattresses and moved them back in.

With no toilet facilities in their cells the POWs are expected to use buckets to defecate and urinate, in attempts to get rid of this human waste, they try have to throw what they can out windows and pour urine onto the landing which is often swept back in around them, this is fertile ground for various harmful bacteria and infections, which, as summer approaches, may result in an epidemic outbreak, in correlations with the lack of nutrition, resulting in weakened immune systems, this poses a serious threat to the prisoners’ safety.

Another incident reported to people before the communications shut down, was that food that was getting through to the POW’s was being tampered with, leaving numerous Republicans violently ill, the tampered food and no drinking water has compounded this health issue.

Not only is this a vicious and underhand campaign against legitimate political prisoners it is obviously a great health risk to the men suffering this reality. To compile the health risk POW’s that are on long term medication, have been refused their medicine for the past number of weeks, suffering in a regression of their medical well being.

The media have been absolutely deafening in their silence about this torturous campaign waged against our incarcerated Republicans comrades. The only reporting of this issue is coming from the Republican groups supporting these men and from a few humanitarian organisations.

The IRA has vowed to intensify its armed campaign in the year ahead, announcing that its actions will be "louder than one thousand words."

The announcement was made by a masked member of the organisation dressed in full paramilitary clothing at an Easter Rising commemoration organised by the 32 County Sovereignty Movement (32CSM) at Derry's City Cemetery yesterday afternoon.

Around 300 people gathered in the cemetery for the event. There was also a considerable media presence.

The IRA man was part of a colour party which paraded from the cemetery gates at Bligh's Gardens to the republican monument for the commemoration.

Announcing the group's plans for the next 12 months, the masked man said: "Our actions this year will be louder than one thousand words."
The masked colour party disappeared into the crowd at the end of the commemoration.

A short time later, a group of young people gathered close to the cemetery and attempted to set up a barricade at the roundabout close to St Mary's Church by burning rubbish on the road.

At least one petrol bomb was thrown.

The IRA warning comes just two weeks after the group said it planted four bombs in a number of locations in Derry's city centre which led to traffic chaos. Similar bomb alerts occurred across the North at the same time.

The IRA has also claimed responsibility for attacks on a number of PSNI stations in recent months.

Marion Price, national secretary of the 32CSM, delivered the main oration at the commemoration and called for republicans to "take action" in their local communities.

"Our intellectual opposition to the current structures must be matched with action on the ground to leave people in no doubt that 1916 is unfinished business," she said. "We need to act now; we cannot wait any longer."

Ms Price also attacked Sinn Féin's Martin McGuinness in her speech. "Quislings denouncing us as traitors is a familiar chorus. Republicanism cannot be led by quislings," she said.

Belfast republican Terry McCafferty, who was recently released from prison, was among those at yesterday's commemoration.

Yet again a self appointed elite has brought republicanism into disrepute, yet again our struggle has been criminalised by constitutional nationalists masquerading as republicans. An unrepresentative junta within republicanism almost destroyed the IRA but because the actions of a courageous few and the continued respect for the IRA constitution we remain intact while at present that junta is finished as a credible revolutionary force. The republican movement has weathered that particular storm. The Republican position has been held.

The IRA has had to make some difficult choices of late but it has done so to protect the integrity of the army and the national liberation struggle. Anyone connected to the republican separatist movement should at all times remember who they are and what they represent.
They represent an unbroken line of principled resistance stretching back to the men and women of 1916 and beyond, they represent every man and woman who lie in their graves for the cause and who we are here to honour at Easter, they represent the national position which is bigger than any one person or group of individuals.

Friends and comrades, the republican movement is at a critical juncture and our actions now will determine which road we take. Repression in the two hostile states in Ireland is increasing dramatically in line with our growing support. The British thought they had the ‘Irish question’ put to bed but here they are, in Ireland on a war footing, the volunteer soldiers of the Irish Republican Army will engage them to the best of our ability.

More Crown Force Brutality in Fermanagh

The Fermanagh 32CSM condemn the brutal assault of a number of our members by the colonial British Police force in Enniskillen over the Easter weekend. A member of the 32CSM was arrested and taken to Enniskillen police barracks on Saturday evening after a wreath laying ceremony at the Bobby Sands memorial in Enniskillen. He was later released. Other members were taken aggressively from their cars and some forced to lay on the road while the British Police carried out searches of their vehicles.

On Easter Sunday morning members of the 32CSM laying wreaths on graves in the county were given a police warning that what they were doing was illegal and that it was being filmed.

This intimidation and threatening behaviour by the British PSNI epitomizes the increased harassment and intimidation of the nationalist people generally. The political wing of these armed thugs, the British Government, has clearly sanctioned this increased harassment and intimidation at the highest level and we call on the nationalist people to be vigilant in the coming weeks as this latest onslaught will intensify.

Irish Republicans will not be deflected from upholding the Sovereignty of the Irish Nation nor will a British militia stop us from honouring our patriot dead or allow our will to be broken by this type of bullyboy tactics. This type of provocative intimidation against Irish Republicans by the British Police PSNI/RUC certainly demonstrates they have learned nothing throughout the history of their reign of terror in Ireland and equally the Irish people have stood firm against such terror and have continuously sent a return message that Croppies Will Not Lie Down. British Policing can never be accepted in Ireland no matter what guise it hides behind.

Crown Force Incursion into Co.Donegal

The 32CSM in Fermanagh would like to condemn in the strongest terms the recent British Crown Forces incursion into the townland of Clyhore in Co. Donegal on the Fermanagh/Donegal border.

On Monday 22nd of March the British Colonial Police force PSNI/RUC were observed stopping traffic in Co. Donegal in the 26 County Jurisdiction. Republicans in counties Fermanagh, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan have been aware of the PSNI/RUC patrols straying over the border on numerous occasions recently, and this latest incursion is another blatant affront to Irish Sovereignty.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement would like to know if this incursion has been sanctioned by the 26 County Administration as part of their war on Irish Republicanism and if so where does that leave their own claims to having sovereign integrity over their own jurisdiction and where does it leave their claims of neutrality given that a heavily armed occupation army and police force may be allowed to use their territory?

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement not alone condemns the military wing of the British government for continuing these deliberate incursions but we also condemn the 26 County Administration’s failure to protect its sovereignty in 1998 and again in 2009 and now in 2010 when attacks on that sovereignty are ignored , encouraged or even facilitated.

Maghaberry Prison Protest
32 County Sovereignty Movement

Once again the veneer of normalisation is shattered by London’s policy of criminalisation against republicans. As much as such a policy victimises republican activists and republican prisoners it also highlights the utter impotence of those claiming to be ‘Irish Ministers’ in Stormont. The British Government is now utilising the entire spectrum of its criminal justice system in Ireland in its dirty war against Irish separatists irrespective of devolution. The police, judiciary and prison authorities are at one in the implementation of this policy.

There has been a concerted effort in recent times to smear individual republicans as agents and informers to ferment mistrust and division within republican ranks. Coupled with this have been bogus RUC/PSNI claims of death threats against named individuals purportedly from republican organisations. These are not random or localised occurrences but form part of a centrally controlled strategy. Undoubtedly the spectre of republican unity prompted this strategy at this time.

32CSM activist Gary Donnelly was recently imprisoned after being assaulted by members of the RUC/PSNI in Derry. Shortly into his incarceration Gary was placed on ‘lockdown’ and removed from the republican wing on the spurious grounds that his life was ‘under threat from the Real IRA’. He was placed in a wing housing criminal and sex offenders. As a consequence of this action Gary has refused food pending his return to the republican wing.

This development marks a deliberate intrusion of this dirty war strategy into the prison system. Like all previous attempts to do so it will fail in the face of determined republican resistance both within and without of that system. We call on all republicans to see through this nefarious British tactic and act in unison against it. Criminalisation is directed against all republicans and ostensibly what republicans struggle for. To those who chose to become part of the British establishment under the delusional belief that such an act could remove that establishment from Ireland you now face another choice, your British paymasters expect no less from you.

Sinn Fein's Daithi Mc kay calls for specialist Police unit to tackle the Republican threat

Calls have been made for a specialist police unit to deal with Republican incidents amid fears that PSNI caution over the heightened terrorist threat could be putting lives at risk.

This week it emerged police officers left a car believed to have been used as the getaway vehicle in the bombing of Newry courthouse unsecured for two days.

Police didn't secure the scene because they feared being lured into a IRA trap — instead allowing firefighters to put out a blaze in the potentially booby-trapped vehicle.

It follows similar incidents where the PSNI/RUC have taken hours — in some cases days and weeks — to investigate crime reports because of fears of an ambush.

Last month people were able to walk past a van containing a mortar bomb in Keady after officers were slow to cordon off the area.

Police also took 12 hours to respond to reports that thieves were stealing an ATM from McCabe’s SuperValu store in Newtownbutler, while last April the PSNI/RUC was criticised after waiting 17 days to search for a suspect device near Rosslea.

Sinn Fein Policing Board member Daithi McKay warned that people’s lives could be put at risk, and has called for a specialist unit to deal with difficult incidents.

“These are dangerous situations,” he said. “We saw the threat when a device went off in Newry. It could have done a lot of damage and killed people in the area.

“There is obviously public concern about police response times for some incidents, and there is a duty on the Chief Constable and the PSNI/RUC to look at these.

“If the PSNI/PSNI is unable to adequately respond to these incidents, then it is worth considering looking at a specific unit or specially trained officers to deal with such issues. That could lead to better response times and decrease the risk to the public.”

Last October residents in Clady had to seal off a road after police did not turn up at the scene of a suspect van abandoned in the Tyrone village.

Independent councillor Gerard Foley, one of those involved in the cordon, said the community “was left out to dry”.

“They were the ones on the front line,” he said. “It was the community that checked the van. It was the lives of the community at risk, it wasn't the lives of police officers.

“What happened here last year was a fiasco. We are still waiting for the the RUC/PSNI to answer our questions about this incident.”

A spokesman for the Police Federation said each incident has to be judged on its own merits.

“There is a serious concern for officers’ safety and they cannot move too quickly when there is a threat,” he said.

In the Newry incident, officers received reports of the burning car at Dromintee 20 minutes after the blast on February 22, but left it for two days without forensic examination. It was later removed by residents without police knowledge, before being recovered.

Defending the PSNI/RUC’s handling of the incident yesterday, Chief Constable Matt Baggott said he would not pressure officers to move into a situation where their lives could be at risk.

“We have to take our time... we have to be mindful of the risks,” he said.

I wonder will Daithi have the same view when Republicans are laying dead on the roadside, at the hands of his new British unit?

New British Anti-terror Unit Deployed in Fermanagh

THE PSNI has confirmed that specialist anti-terrorist police have been deployed in the Fermanagh area following a number of dissident republican attacks here.

Announcing the drafting in of the crack unit, the PSNI referred to the recent ambush of a police officer at Garrison, as well as an upsurge in criminal activity, including ATM robberies along the border.

The presence of the specialist unit was revealed at last month's meeting of the Dungannon District Policing Partnership, although not in the role they were tasked to carry out.

The local PSNI Inspector admitted the new unit had been deployed to tackle burglary and ATM theft.

However, he insisted that their primary role, 'and whole purpose in our area', was in an anti-terrorism role, 'trying to disrupt terrorists and detect them moving munitions or whatever'.

The officer, Inspector Stephen Moneypenny, disclosed that the specialist force were Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) officers.

The Ulster Unionist MLA, Tom Elliott, has welcomed the drafting of specialist police into Fermanagh in support of the PSNI to combat dissident activity.

Mr Elliott told the Herald that it had been obvious for some time that the local PSNI required additional support due to the level of crime they were contending with.

"This not only includes burglaries and acts of crude criminality, such as the ATM thefts, but also the threat of paramilitary violence. We only have to think back to the attempted murder of a young police officer in Garrison in November to see just how dangerous the situation is at this moment in time."

"This is why I am pleased that specialist police officers have being drafted in to help support our local officers already on the ground."

He said their presence would not only aid 'F' Division - including Fermanagh and most of Tyrone - in a practical manner by increasing the manpower at their disposal, but that, visually, their presence would reassure people that the police were increasingly active on the ground.

"I believe that the wider community will take confidence from the fact that local policing resources are being enhanced at a time when it a real necessity."

However, Fermanagh Independent Councillor, Bernice Swift said the primary aim of the PSNI remained the same as the RUC, RIC and the B-Specials.

"That aim', she said, " is to protect the British state and British interests in Ireland. It is not about combating a dissident threat.

"Throughout history, Britain has deployed a wide range of tactics to maintain its occupation of Ireland; however, one element of British strategy in Ireland has remained constant for centuries and it's that of the locally recruited militia.

"The British government and its allies in Ireland continuously claim that the PSNI is a normal police service for a normal state.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The PSNI is just the frontline force of Britain's 'Axis of Evil' in Ireland, along with the British army and MI5 forming the other elements".

Kieran Doherty Admitted Involvement in Drugs Trade

The IRA has claimed that Kieran Doherty, whom it abducted and murdered last week, had admitted his involvement in a €500,000 cannabis factory uncovered by gardai in Donegal last month.

In a statement, a representative of its ‘Army Council’ claimed Doherty (31) had made the admission during a six-week ‘investigation’ by the IRA following the discovery of the drugs factory.

Doherty’s family have strongly denied he was involved in the drugs trade.

The dissident spokesman said Doherty, who was a prominent member in Derry, had been “interviewed” twice by the IRA before the night of his murder.

The IRA said that at the second interview, at which Doherty was “court-martialed”, he had made the admission after hearing “witness statements” from other members of the criminal gang who were allegedly involved with him in the cannabis factory.

The IRA spokesman said that Doherty had been a member of its “GHQ (general headquarters) staff” and had known the organisation’s rules when he joined.

While Doherty had admitted involvement with the drugs gang, he had denied working for MI5, the spokesman claimed.

However, the IRA believed that MI5 “had played some role” in the drugs factory which had been set up to “blacken the IRA’s name and link us to the drugs trade which we abhor and oppose”. The cannabis factory was discovered by gardai at a house in Carrigans which was owned by Seamus McGreevy (56) from Co Meath, a founder (R) IRA member who killed himself over a month ago.

McGreevy had built the house but had been unable to sell it due to the property market slump. He asked Doherty to rent the house to tenants and to act as its caretaker. The two men, who met when they were serving sentences in Portlaoise prison, were described as being “like father and son”.

The IRA said that, from its investigation, it believed McGreevy had no involvement in the cannabis factory and was horrified when it was found. “After the drugs factory was uncovered, the IRA stood down its entire Derry brigade pending the outcome of our investigation,” the spokesman said.

“An outside IRA security team moved in to carry out the inquiry. It was an extensive investigation during which many witnesses, including members of the criminal gang involved in the drugs factory, were interviewed.

“Those individuals gave statements saying Kieran had been integrally involved in setting up the whole operation and had actually sourced the cannabis plants.”

The spokesman claimed when Doherty was first interviewed at a paramilitary “court of inquiry”, he denied these allegations. However, the IRA representative claimed that on the second occasion when Doherty faced a “court martial” and was shown statements from the gang members, he “admitted his involvement”.

The spokesman said that at both “interviews” Doherty had been ordered not to discuss the issue with anybody nor to contact other IRA members.

“However, on Bloody Sunday (January 31), Kieran phoned Seamus McGreevy who was having lunch at his sister’s home. Whatever Kieran said led to Seamus leaving, returning to his own home, and then hanging himself,” added the spokesman.

McGreevy came into a very substantial sum of money when a motorway was built through farmland he owned. Republican sources said he gave most of this to the Real IRA and also to ex-prisoners who were struggling financially. They said he had given Doherty money to set up a café for himself but the venture had failed. Republican sources described McGreevy as a “very trusting, quiet countryman”.

Until the discovery of the drugs factory, Doherty had been a popular member of the IRA nicknamed ‘Harry Potter’ or ‘Goggles’ because of his glasses. The IRA claimed it had “strictly followed the green book”, the IRA’s rulebook which all members endorse, during its ‘investigation’ into Doherty.

The spokesman claimed that admitting one of its members had become involved in the drugs’ trade, and then killing him, was “not something we did lightly”.

Cavan Republican Prisoner Attacked in Maghaberry Gaol

A BLACKLION man accused of attempting to murder a student police officer in Garrison last November is to take legal action after he was bitten by a dog while on remand in Maghaberry prison last week,

Kevin Barry Nolan, 33, with an address at Main Street, Blacklion is believed to have been severely injured after he was bitten by a dog on the right arm as he made his way to the prison gym last Tuesday.

A source told the Herald that, "on the afternoon of Tuesday 16 February, Kevin Barry Nolan from Belcoo, a remand prisoner at Magheraberry prison was bitten on the right arm by a guard dog and severely injured. He was going from his cell block with a companion to the gymnasium when the dog lunged at him and bit him on the right arm.

"The prison officer who failed to control the dog managed to command the dog to let Kevin go.

"He was severely injured, but was refused the services of a doctor even though there was a doctor in the adjoining block at this time.

"The nurse in charge refused what was surely at the time a reasonable request.

"Even though the injury was caused by a dog, he was refused a tetanus injection until quite some time later. He also requested to be removed to hospital if he couldn't be seen by a doctor, but that request was also refused.

"He has now been charged with refusing to obey an order which is very cynical and a crude attempt at a cover up by the prison authorities. It is understood that the following day, prominent notices were erected warning inmates to stay three metres from the dogs.

"The next time Mr Nolan went outside he noticed that the dog handler was keeping the dog very well away from prisoners."

The Fermanagh 32 County Sovereignty Committee condemned the incident which it described as 'an assault'.

It stated: "The information coming from inside the prison is that Kevin received numerous wounds to his body from the dog after getting mauled and was severely bitten on the arm and then left with the basic minimal treatment given by the prison officials.

"This treatment of an Irish republican prisoner is totally disgraceful, and once more shows the true colours of the British state when it comes to dealing with Irish republicans.

"This is despicable behaviour from the prison authorities, and a breach of Kevin's human rights."

Meanwhile, Nolan's solicitor, Frank McManus of Murphy and McManus Solicitors confirmed that he has received instructions to take whatever legal action is necessary arising out of the incident.

The source continued: "Mr Nolan instructed his solicitor that the incident was captured on CCTV and a request has been made to the prison authorities to make the footage available."

"The matter is being formally investigated by senior management at Maghaberry.

Deal falls on deaf ears

THE 'WAR' goes on. That's the message from dissident republicans believed to be linked with the most active paramilitary groups in Fermanagh. The warning comes in spite of the decision taken by the INLA and other organisations to disarm before Monday's decommissioning deadline.

And while one security expert has said that groups like the Continuity IRA and the Real IRA - both of whom have claimed responsibility for attacks on the PSNI in the Fermanagh area - have been weakened by the political breakthrough at Hillsborough, the dissident message is one of defiance.

Security expert Brian Rowan told the Herald that had the politicians at Hillsborough failed to reach an agreement on policing and justice, it would have created a 'playground' for dissident republican activity.

But, for at least two high-profile paramilitary republican groupings, the 'war against British occupation' goes on.

The 32 County Sovereignty Committee which is thought to have links with the Real IRA said in a statement to the Herald this week that the conflict will continue: "The regime at Stormont will return to form just as British-backed unionism always intended for it to be. Token nationalist involvement merely offers it a veneer of acceptability.

"We reiterate our call for a conflict resolution process which actually deals with the cause of the conflict. In the absence of such a process, the conflict will continue."

The spokesman said the 32 County Sovereignty Committee movement was growing: "Our analysis is reaching a wider audience. Irrespective of the distractions in Stormont, we will see an end to British occupation in our country."
Meanwhile, Republican Sinn Fein have described the INLA's unilateral surrender of weapons as, 'no less shameful than that of the Provos'.

An RSF spokesman told the Herald: "These weapons should have been given to those prepared to use them rather than destroyed to gain favour with the enemy. British guns remain on our streets with the blessing of former republicans."

Meanwhile, Brian Rowan, a commentator on security matters, was invited by the Herald to comment on how the political progress made in recent days was likely to impact on the dissidents' campaign. County Fermanagh has already been given a 'high security' tag following several dissident attacks in the east of the county over a six-month period, June, 2008- March, 2009, two of which were attempts to kill police officers, at Roslea and Lisnaskea.

"You can look at them from a narrow frame base - the attacks on Masserene Barracks, Craigavon and the attempt on (Constable) Peadar Heffron, and when you look at it in that narrow way, it exaggerates the threat.

"If you look at it in a much wider frame, you see incidents like the bomb abandoned at Forkhill, the attack at Garrison, the bomb outside the Policing Board offices that didn't go off and, likewise, the device at Strabane, and they form a pattern which shows that a lot of their activities fail.

"In saying that, I am in no way downplaying or understating the threat. They can kill people, they have killed people and they will want to kill more people. The question that has to be asked is: what are they fighting for?"

Asked about the prospect of the Hillsborough deal prompting a fresh upsurge in dissident violence, Mr Rowan said if anything political progress would serve to undermine those opposed to the peace process.

"I have a huge concern that had the political deal not been made last week, that would have created a vacuum and that would have been the playground for dissidents to try and step up their activities.

"I say that because they're trying to undermine the Adams and McGuinness peace strategy. While the dissident threat can be presented as a war against the British and the security forces, I think it is much more to do with what is going on inside the republican community.

"So, if the deal wasn't done, that would have gone badly against Adams and McGuinness who are hate figures for the dissidents. People would have said they talked the IRA out of the war by telling them there was an alternative political strategy. If politics failed, the people would have the dissidents to argue that Sinn Fein's alternative strategy had failed."

Yesterday, a Police spokesman declined to comment on the recent decommissioning of weapons by two republican groups.

However he did state: "It is fair to say that the current Chief Constable and his predecessor (Sir Hugh Orde) have spoken about the high levels of dissident threat in border areas, like Fermanagh."

Republican prisoner held in ‘inhuman and degrading’ conditions!

The conditions in a Lithuanian jail where a republican prisoner, Michael Campbell, is being held on remand have been described as ‘inhuman’ and ‘degrading’ and in direct contravention of prisoners’ human rights.
These findings were included in a recently published report by Professor Rod Morgan, an independent expert in criminal justice and the former head of Britain’s Youth Justice Board.

Professor Morgan’s report re-iterated the findings of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), which in 2008 inspected the Lukiskes Prison in Vilnius where Campbell, from Dundalk, is being held.

Campbell, from Faughart, has been held on remand in Lukiskes prison for almost two years. He was arrested with his wife, Fiona Duffy, in January 2008 during a sting operation in which it is believed MI5, the Gardaí and Lithuanian police were involved. Duffy was held for four months before being released unconditionally and allowed to return to Ireland.

Prosecutors in the case against Campbell allege he was attempting to procure weapons for use by the RIRA but he insists he had travelled to Vilnius to purchase counterfeit cigarettes and that he is the victim of a conspiracy by British and Lithuanian Intelligence.

Among the conditions which the CPT found to be ‘totally unacceptable’ were cells in a poor state of repair and filthy, little or no access to natural light, inadequate artificial lighting, lack of ventilation, unhygienic toilets, inadequate drinking water provision and absence of outdoor exercise facilities.

Levels of overcrowding were described as ‘outrageous’, with six prisoners sharing an eight metre square cell. While there have also been reports of high suicide rates.

A follow-up inspection by the Lithuanian Ombudsman acknowledged that conditions in the jail are in violation of the human rights standards and sanitation regulations due to overcrowding and the failure of the authorities to carry out basic renovations.

Since his arrest, Michael Campbell has only been seen by his lawyers and an official from the Irish Embassy in Lithuania.

He is denied any visits from his family and it took numerous court appeals by his lawyers before he was granted two brief phone calls to his wife, their only contact in two years.

According to his family, his mail is heavily censored and he is prevented from making any mention of his trial which began in October 2009. The trial is being heard in closed court with family and supporters banned from attending. Severe restrictions have also been placed on media coverage from the court, which sits for just two or three days each month.

Little or no advance notice of some court sittings is given and often Campbell’s legal representatives are not informed of proceedings. With a date of verdict yet to be returned, there is no indication of how long the trial will continue.

Campbell’s brother, Liam, is currently fighting extradition to Lithuania. He has been held in Maghaberry prison since he was arrested in Bessbrook in May last year for an alleged breach of bail conditions.

At the time he was on bail awaiting extradition proceedings from Dublin and it was alleged his bail conditions prevented him from crossing the border. It has since been established that conditions were not breached however, he remains in custody. He faces accusations of conspiracy to procure arms from Lithuania for use by the RIRA.

Soon after his arrest in the north, extradition proceedings were levelled against him at the behest of the Lithuanian authorities, who have requested he be extradited from Northern Ireland instead.
This request was upheld by the Belfast court despite the fact that the same proceedings were already at an advanced stage in the south.

His extradition hearing from the north is scheduled for next month.

The so called Hillsborough Agreement is yet another exercise in fudge endorsed by political parties fearful of an electoral backlash from within their own constituencies.
From a republican perspective it reinforces the impotence of the current process in pursuing Irish unity.
The pantomime of late night discussions and Prime Ministerial visits can only mask for so long the reality that Stormont is a sectarian talking shop put in place to normalise British rule in Ireland. From London’s position the perfect arrangement has been formulated, Provisional Sinn Fein are now institutionally policing British interests in Ireland.
For Dublin, the Hillsborough Agreement offers a welcome distraction away from the economic and financial crisis currently enveloping the Twenty Six Counties and its culpable political leaders.

The conflict in Ireland will not be resolved by creating sub committees and working groups in Stormont.
No amount of British money can buy Irish acceptance of its presence in our country. Re-branding the produce of Partition will not disguise Partition for what it is; an affront to Irish sovereignty.
The regime at Stormont will return to form just as British backed unionism always intended for it to be. Token nationalist involvement merely offers it a veneer of acceptability.

The 32CSM reiterates our call for a conflict resolution process which actually deals with the cause of the conflict.

Fermanagh to get half of police graduates

Chief Constable Matt Baggott has said the dissident republican threat remains "very real and severe" in Fermanagh and appealed to the community to "please help us" in the fight against dissident republican activity.

The PSNI chief made the comments after the first Northern Ireland Policing Board public meeting was held in Fermanagh on Tuesday night.

"We have hundreds of people gathering intelligence on these people and we are using our best efforts and resources to make sure they are brought to justice. We are not letting the situation build up to the same level as before, but ultimately we need the co-operation of the public to help us build on that," he said.

This coincided with his main theme of the evening of "personal policing" which he presented to the 200-strong audience at the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen.

"We have a real problem here and a few people are led to believe that I'm the head of a war machine. The officers I lead are on responding to calls tonight, they're at road traffic accidents saving lives and giving mouth-to-mouth to people in need without a second thought for who that person is and for anyone to interpret this as a war machine is utterly barking. I've made the commitment to this force and I will stand up now and say enough is enough. I don't want to have to cradle another colleague's wife in my arms with the emotion of the community behind her," he said.

After apologising on "getting too emotional", Constable Baggott asked the public to "please help us, please challenge us and please work alongside us" in bringing dissident republicans to justice.

In relation to PSNI officers, he admitted that out of all the places in the world he has served in, he has never been more "inspired" by the sheer "courage" of his colleagues who "are doing absolutely the right thing on working towards a better future for Northern Ireland."

He said he was "taken aback" by the "desire" of young police graduates who he said almost half of which will be coming to Fermanagh in the next six months.

He admitted that the police service needs to "radically change" and doing so, he is prepared to listen and to be held to account by the Policing Board when it is required.

He also discussed plans of how the community can work together in the fight against crime and said the PSNI will continue to crackdown on the mis-use of alcohol among teenagers that can lead to anti-social behaviour and other crime.

Constable Baggott admitted that the next six months were going to bring challenges, particularly in regards to finance, but reassured the public that back room staff are being put on patrol and that there are sufficient resources to carry out effective community policing in Fermanagh and the rest of Northern Ireland.

PSNI Officer Seriously injured in Bomb Blast

A member of the RUC/PSNI is undergoing surgery after he was seriously injured in a Republican car bomb attack in Randalstown, County Antrim.

The 33-year-old Catholic officer is in "a very serious condition" in hospital according to RUC/PSNI spokesman, Derek Williamson.

He said the British policeman, who was caught in the blast on the Milltown Road at 0630 GMT on friday last, was a "highly regarded" officer who had served for 10 years.

The RUC and British army are at the scene.

Williamson told the media that Republicans were responsible for the bombing but it was too early to say which group was behind the attack.

He is an active member of the GAA and an Irish speaker.

He described it as an "atrocious act of terrorism carried out by cowardly thugs".

He said the recently married officer was targeted while he made his way to Woodbourne police station in west Belfast.

It is believed the victim had driven about a mile from his home when the bomb exploded and was found breathing and conscious but bleeding heavily.

British Ministers in the occupied six counties issued a joint statement condemning the attack.

Peter Robinson said is was a "cowardly evil act against a man committed to defending the free society we all enjoy".

"I have said in the past that those who perpetrate such attacks will not succeed in returning Northern Ireland to the dark days of the past. I remain steadfastly committed to upholding that promise," he added.

RUC spokesperson Derek Williamson described the bomb as a 'cowardly terrorist attack'
Provo Crown Minister Martin McGuinness said the injured RUC man was an Irish language speaker and an "active member" of the Gaelic Athletic Association, an organisation which promotes Irish sports on both sides of the Irish border.

The chairman of the Northern Ireland Policing Board and property tycoon Barry Gilligan, said the bombing was "an attempt to murder".

He added that those who carried it out "cannot be allowed to succeed in bringing any further terror" to the community.

Another English Crown Minister Paul Goggins described it as a "vile attack" which would "sicken people".

Republicans have been responsible for a spate of bomb attacks across the occupied six counties in the last year.

In October, the IRA planted a bomb under a policeman's car in east Belfast.

His partner suffered minor injuries in the attack.

We commend our activists for their dedication and hard work in pursuit of the republican goal in 2009. We commend all other republican activists for being true to their beliefs and for being generous and inventive in listening to the beliefs of others. 2009 was a year which witnessed that inventiveness being translated into political action which was widely recognised throughout the republican base. It represented the most potent expression of solidarity with imprisoned comrades. It is solidarity in action with those who were bereaved in the struggle. It is also the way forward for Irish republicanism.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement has a clear vision for the year ahead. The reclamation of our sovereignty must take real form. We must give leadership to our communities to help them achieve this. Throughout Ireland communities have been betrayed by the institutions of faith, finance and state which have long purported to speak and act on their behalf. The abundance of trust placed in the integrity of individual leaders has proved misplaced. They have been left leaderless.

They have not, however, been left powerless. It is in recognition of this reality that the 32CSM will now engage with our communities. In a disciplined approach the 32CSM will liase directly with local communities to explore ways of reclaiming their sovereignty, and under these auspices, help them pursue their political and social objectives. We will focus our efforts in ensuring that all community activity will by default be a pursuit toward national sovereignty. Such a process will be a challenge to both states. It is a first step in filling the vacuum left by those who are now wholly subsumed into the apparatus of partition.

Communities so organised can become the template for national freedom. The republican objective is twofold; to secure our sovereign independence and to organise a just society within that independence. Like our republican forebears we can now enact our aspirations, we can involve our people with our beliefs in real and tangible terms. Republicanism cannot be detached from the people and the people cannot be detached from the strategies deployed to secure their freedom. We can only lead through democratic involvement with our communities.

Because it is a first step it must be taken with due diligence. We have prepared our arguments and are refining our position as mandated at our Ard Fheis. It will be democratic. It will be a learning process which will require discipline, patience and pragmatic political judgement. Republicans cannot interact at a distance. We need to create a new interface between ourselves and our people which will allow us to seek their mandate for our struggle. This mandate will not be measured by a gerrymandered vote. Its value will be in its democratic integrity and its sovereign credentials. For us the ballot box means more than just numbers. Democracy can only be returned to the Irish people when their national sovereignty is recognised.

Because it is a challenge to the state the state will obviously respond. Mistakes will be made, but also learned from, and it is this disciplined approach which will allow for this engagement to spread successfully to other areas. In part the success of this project may be gauged from the state’s reaction to it. They will not be alone. Establishment Nationalists will also have a vested interest in seeing this project fail. They will seek to divide and conquer. But a clear understanding as to the implications of its sovereign distinction and clear democratic practices will thwart them. After all it was disdain for democracy within their own organisations which led them into the cul de sac they now find themselves.

The 32CSM will be active on other fronts. Two major international initiatives will be launched in the coming year. We have observed how issues at play on the international stage are geared toward political events in the occupied six counties. We have made our intentions known to the relevant governments that we are determined to follow a particular path challenging any move that would seek to de-legitimise the republican struggle. These initiatives are for the benefit of Irish republicanism, we will not claim sole ownership of them. But we will provide the leadership that will open up counter arguments for all republicans to employ against these nefarious measures.

Republican unity in 2009 resulted in impressive demonstrations on a range of issues. The continuing media and political demonising of republicans is proof of their effect as is their grudging admission of our growth. The media and political establishment’s objective is to ignore us but through mutual cooperation we have made this impossible. In the coming year this cooperation can be galvanised within our communities as these issues now become their issues in pursuit of our national objectives.

The British Government’s strategy of finally destroying any vestige of republicanism within the provisional movement will not be allowed to undermine the separatist ideal. A resurgent republicanism will demonstrate to both governments and the international community that the destruction of the provisional movement was the liberation of Irish republicanism. It is up to all of us to ensure that 2010 clearly demonstrates this reality.

Time For Thought this christmas !

Christmas is a time of joy fun and laughter, but christmas is also a time of sadness and sorrow.

Just take a few moments this christmas to remember our POWS at home and abroad and there poor families who have to suffer the heartbreak of not having there loved one with them at christmas.

Also can we remember the many EX POWS this christmas especially the ones who dont have much. Take time to call with them bring them a gift or have a yarn with them let them know there always remembered and not forgotten.

Finally christmas is a time that effects the old and vulnerable members of our communities make some time available to visit your elderly neighbour to see if they are alright or need anything etc etc as with all the cold and harsh weather we are having at present they might feel alone and isolated from society.

UUP Assembly Member Calls for Armoured PSNI Helicopters for Fermanagh

The use by the PSNI of commercial helicopters to cope with dissident activity in Co Fermanagh on four occasions has cost the PSNI a whopping £52,000.

The figures were released by the local Ulster Unionist Assembly member , Tom Elliot who questioned whether rising costs, associated with the ongoing dissident threat, might necessitate specialist helicopters, rather than private hire.

He remarked; "Having requested information on the use of helicopters across the provence, it emerged that a commercial helicopter had been used on four occasions in Fermanagh since April at a cost of £52,000.

" Unfortunately, the PSNI have declined to provide my party with any additional details of helicopter use in other areas and expense incurred, due to security related sensitivities."

He went on; " While we appreciate PSNI concerns, the Ulster Unionist Party is committed to ensuring that our Police officers are are fully resoursed to tackle the dissident threat, Operations against dissident terrrorists shoul;d in no way be hindered by inadequate equipment or equipment that is so costly it could effect the long term viability of future operations.

" Only this week", he added, i have received a report that dissidents have got there hands on surface to air missiles and are in the planning to target Police Helicopters.

" In this context, the use of private helicopters becomes increasingly worrying. It is vital that the lives and limbs of our Police officers are protected as far as possible. In my mind fully armoured helicopters offering more protection, would be the best resourse to do this."

Mr Elliot said he would be asking his collegues on the Policing board to look into the cost associated with private helicopters hireand whether a tendering process would be a more cost effective way to manage escalating costs.

" What is clear is that the situation is very serious indeed. Swift and concerted action is needed to rid Northern Ireland of these criminals intent on dragging us backwards."

He said the UUP remained committed to giving the nessesary support and assistance to PSNI officers to keep peace a reality for the people of Northern Ireland.

The recently staged political arrest of 32 County Sovereignty Movement National Secretary Marian Price underscores the fact that policing in the Six Counties will always be political.

We have long stated that where sovereignty is disputed policing will always take a side in that dispute.

The myth that policing in the Six Counties could be detached from the constitutional question by employing the charade of ‘Civic Policing’ has been shattered yet again.

The British Government has repeatedly used policing to curry favour with whichever political mood prevails.

On the one hand we had the establishment of the benign District Policing Partnerships as a sop to the constituency of establishment nationalists.

And now that we have unionists grappling with the issue of devolving minimalist Policing and Justice ‘powers’ to Stormont we witness the targeting of high profile republican activists for arrest by the RUC/PSNI.

Coupled with this is the appearance before Crown Courts of Irish Republicans on the most spurious of grounds.

All of this points to where the British Government desires that political policing should lead. We urge all republicans to be vigilant in the times ahead as British efforts to secure its illegal sovereign claim over part of Ireland intensify.

Old Bailey bomber arrested over soldiers murders

Leading republican Marian Price has been arrested by detectives investigating the murders of two soldiers outside Massereene barracks in Antrim.

Heavily armed police raided her home in the Andersonstown area of west Belfast and she was taken away for questioning about the Real IRA killings last March.

Price, 55, was arrested along with a 39-year-old man, who was detained 40 miles away in Coalisland, Co Tyrone.

It is understood that police began the search of her semi-detached red brick house in Stockman's Avenue, a quiet cul de sac close to the M1 motorway, when heavily armed police wearing flak jackets arrived in cars and Land Rovers at around 7.30am on Monday.

The arrested pair are being held in Antrim for questioning.

A total of 14 people have now been arrested in connection with the murders of Sappers Patrick Azimkar, 21, from London, and Mark Quinsey, 23, from Birmingham at the military base.

Only two men have been charged so far, prominent Co Armagh republican Colin Duffy, 41, and Brian Shivers, 44, from Magherafelt, Co Londonderry.

Price and her sister Dolores were among those convicted over the 1973 bombing outside the Old Bailey in which one person was killed and around 200 others injured.

The Price sisters were transferred to a Northern Ireland prison after going on hunger strike.

The episode secured their position as high-profile members of the republican movement at the time.

Marian Price has since been a vocal critic of the decision of the mainstream republican movement to decommission weapons and back the political process.

She is a leading member of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement, considered to be the Real IRA's political wing.

Volunteer Eddie Carmody was born in Moyvane, Co. Kerry and at a very young age moved to Ballylongford to work on a local farm.

He was an outstanding Gaelic footballer and an all round athlete. He was a man of great courage, honesty and innate chivalry.

He was one of the first local men to join Óglaigh na hÉireann becoming at first the Quarter Master of his local company and then a Lieutenant within the IRA.

While on his way to an arms dump outside Ballylongford on the 22nd November 1920, he was ambushed by a patrol of Black and Tans.

He was severely wounded after being fired upon several times, but still managed to struggle away a few hundred yards.

The Tans following his trail of blood found him after a brief search and dragged him onto the roadway, where he was kicked and beaten with rifle butts.

After being stabbed by the soldiers bayonets in a frenzied attack he was shot several times in the face resulting in his death.

His body was then put onto a cart and dragged through the village to the local barrack's, where he was left outside in a turf shed till his father collected his body the following day.

Fermanagh Republican Asked to work for MI5

On Saturday 24th of October at approximately 11.30pm a Fermanagh 32csm member and EX POW and his girlfriend who is also a member of the 32csm in the 26 counties were travelling from the town of Enniskillen, after celebrating his birthday. After travelling no more than 6 to 7 miles outside the town they noticed a blue light flashing behind them so the female driver of the car then pulled the car into the laybye and was followed by the car with the blue flashing light.

The occupants of the car with the blue flashing light were the PSNI traffic branch who stated to the female driver of the car that she had been speeding and that is why she had been pulled in.

The passenger of the car was asked his name and at this the traffic branch left the car and returned to there own car and were heard on radios talking about the passenger who was in the car that was stopped.

About 5 to 8 minutes past when then flashing lights and cars were seen converging upon the veichile that the traffic branch had stopped.

It was then that the female driver of the car that was stopped was asked to step outside the car and accompany the traffic branch to the barracks to be questioned about road traffic matters. At this the girls boyfriend a well known Republican from Fermanagh got out of the veichle also and demanded to know what the reason was why his girlfriend was to be taken to the police station for questioning about road traffic matters, before he could say much more his girlfriend was escorted to the back of the patrol car.

The girls boyfriend no doubt became angry and aggressive towards the PSNI who had now called the TSG who were there very heavily armed to carry out a search on the females car under the terrorism act.

The female was then driven away at speed while the Fermanagh Republican was left on his own with a heavily armed TSG and PSNI present as they began to search the Republicans girlfriends car without her being present.

At this the Fermanagh Republican became concerned thinking of another John Brady scenario with no witnesses he tried to escape the clutches of the TSG and PSNI and was man handled to the ground after a lenghty struggle on the side of the road, luckily passing cars were seen stopping to see what was going on as the Republican was shouting for cars to stop. The TSG were then seen wildly waving cars and shouting at motorists to drive on.

Just then a voice was herd saying bring him over here and all the TSG became very friendly towards the Republican and escorted him to a waiting car while his hands were tied up.

As he got closer to this car he saw 5 men sitting in the car 2 in the front and 3 in the back, one of the men called the Republican by his first name and Identified themselves as British Military intelligence ( MI5 ) and talked to him about saving lives and asked him to work for them. Even saying that there was over 100,000 in a bag that they opened in front of him.

SEVERAL HUNDRED people are actively involved in republican groups and pose a “severe” and increasing threat, one of the PSNI’s (British Police) most senior police officers has said.

PSNI deputy chief constable Judith Gillespie also said many people formerly involved in terrorism were now using their old gun-running routes and methods for “other contraband” associated with organised crime.

She said republicans were continuing to engage in for-profit crime to raise money to fund resistence. Joint Garda-PSNI operations were trying to combat this activity and to ensure the Border could not be exploited by the organisations.

Republican groups were also continuing to recruit and the threat they posed north of the Border had been raised to “severe”.

“That’s not a word we use wantonly; we use it very carefully. We are obviously very concerned at the level of threat and it behoves us all to work together.”

Ms Gillespie was speaking to the media ahead of the opening of a Garda-PSNI cross-Border seminar on organised crime being held in Dundalk, Co Louth. The conference proper was not open to the media.

When asked how many people were involved in dissident groups, Ms Gillespie said. “We’re talking in the low hundreds, but it depends what you mean by ‘involved’.

“There are people who tacitly support these people; those people who turn a blind eye to what they do or don’t report what they do . . . or by lending a vehicle. But in terms of active involvement, you’re talking about low hundreds.”

However, she said the PSNI did not want to see British soldiers back on the streets and believed the force had the capacity to fight terrorism without on-street military support.

Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy said while there was evidence dissidents were recruiting in the Republic, most of this activity was in the North.

Similarly, he added, the threat posed by the groups was concentrated in the British occupied north of Ireland.

The cross-Border conference would involve intelligence-sharing and the planning of further investigations against dissident groupings engaging in crime to raise the money needed to fund their activities. Acts of terrorism would be foiled by the same cross-Border co-operation.

“When these people plant under-car devices in Belfast or in Derry or when they leave 500lb in places like Forkhill, it’s not about crime in terms of making money, it’s about the threat to society.”

Innocent civilians were not only physically threatened. People also suffered fear and intimidation and policing was threatened.

Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern said the only way the Irish Free State could combat resistence was by joining forces with police forces in Britain and the occupied North.

He said the two-day policing conference provided opportunities for Garda and PSNI officers to share intelligence, plan operations and build personal relationships.

Every resource was being made available to the Garda and PSNI to combat terrorism. “The foot is not being taken of the pedal,” Mr Ahern said.

The British security minister in the occupied zone Paul Goggins MP said levels of co-operation between all the law enforcement agencies on both sides of the Border had never been better.

“They are working as one to arrest, disrupt and seize goods from organised criminals,” he added.

“This united approach at both political and operational level is producing results and sends a very clear message to organised criminal gangs that there is no hiding place on either side of the Border for their illegal activity.”

Mr Goggins said the use of a car bomb in an attack in Belfast last Friday, which targeted the family of a police officer, underlined the “grim” threat from so-called terrorists for police officers on the front line.

Fermanagh/Cavan 32csm Condemn Gardai for threatening to arrest school boy.

The 32csm in Fermanagh and Cavan condemn the actions of the Gardai last week when they went to a secondary school outside Cavan town and threatened to arrest a school boy for handing out Republican literature.

On friday of last week the Gardai visited a school in Co Cavan and requested to see the head principle regarding one of his pupils.

The head principle was told that a number of youths in his school were delivering fliers about the 32csm and IRA propaganda literature, and that one youth was the ring leader in having other youths deliver this material.

The head principal then summoned the young school boy who the Gardai had identified from his class room to his office for questioning without his parents knowledge of what was going on, and bearing in mind the youth is only 15 years old.

As the youth was being brought to the Principles office he seen the Gardai and wanted to know what the problem was and why he was being brought to the office, noone answered the young kids concerns.

As the young lad entered the Principles office he was asked to sit down and in front of him was the Principle and two Gardai who began to ask the youth questions about the 32csm and why he was handing out IRA propaganda in the school.

The youth refused to comply with the Principle and the Gardai and requested his Parents, at this the Gardai became aggressive shouting at the young boy threatening to arrest him. The youths father was contacted by the school principle and asked to attend the school as the Gardai had come to the school with concerns about his childs activities in the school.

The young lads father came to the school furious and confronted the principle in a heated exchange to why his son was subjected to an interrogation by the Gardai in the Principles office.
The Gardai then tried to intervene and a struggle developed in the corridor of the main building between the Gardai and the young lads father.

After calm was restored the father was let take his son home after what must have been a frightening experience for the young boy.

The father of the young boy has lodged a complaint with the Education minister and the Irish Government into what was a blatant attempt to interrogate and question a minor "his son" in Cavan secondary school.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Cavan condemn this action by the Gardai on this young boy and his father, we see this as a form of child abuse and victimization towards this young lad.

Bernard Mulholland (September 30) provides a welcome entry into the debate over the existence of the six counties and Irish national sovereignty.

That ‘existence’ is at the heart of the conflict.

The right or not of the six counties to exist cannot be excluded from determining its future.

Political arrangements which presume its right to exist are merely attempts to retrospectively right a committed wrong.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement (32CSM) made this point in our United Nations submission where we sought, and still seek, a UN ruling that the continued British presence in Ireland is in breach of international law.

The grave flaw in the peace process was British insistence that its claim to sovereignty over Irish territory was not up for negotiation – acceptance of partition was an entry fee into the talks process.

The British did not reciprocate for Dublin’s removal of articles 2&3. The process was to have a predetermined outcome, namely, partition would remain.

Saying now that that outcome can only be changed by an electoral process geared toward protecting the status quo in no way democratises it.

Like our submission to unionism, we also sought engagement with the British government to address their so-called claim of neutrality over the future of the partitioned entity.

All these documents are available on our website and should be viewed collectively.

The 32CSM’s approach to the conflict has been a pragmatic one. Having identified sovereignty as the central issue we sought international arbitration to bring its violation to an end.

Bernard makes the point that ‘Northern Ireland has been in existence for longer than the Irish Republic’ but fails to mention that for the entirety of that existence it has been a theatre of conflict.

The source of conflict predates partition as partition is but another facet of it.

Let’s not forget the pre-partition suppression of the Irish Republic democratically ratified in the 1918 general election.

I would agree wholeheartedly on his ideas concerning international bodies and academic conferences addressing the problems we face but they must address those problems as a means to resolving them and not, like the Good Friday Agreement as a means to justify the constitutional arrangement which gave rise to them.

Certainly it is preferable to resolve conflicts via the ballot box but Bernard must remember that the British government are not democratically accountable to any Irish constituency yet claim the right to deploy its army on Irish streets to defend its illegal sovereign claim.

Irish republicans have not been remiss in recognising, and addressing, unionist concerns.

For our part the 32CSM has sought engagement to address the issue

of Irish national sovereignty and the constitutional future of the Irish people.

Our comrades in Republican Sinn Fein have long championed the Eire Nua policy which represents a radical approach to governance and democracy on the island.

PSNI Using Private Helicopters in Fermanagh

The police in Fermanagh have been chartering a private helicopter to back up security operations.

In a letter to Policing Board member Basil McCrea, Asst Chief Constable Dave Jones said a commercial helicopter has been deployed four times since April.

It has cost a total of just over £52,000.

Earlier this year the then Chief Constable Hugh Orde said the PSNI had received additional funding which would be used for extra helicopter cover.

The Asst Chief Constable said the decision to charter the helicopter is taken by local commanders in the light of their security assessments.

Dissident republicans have been active in Fermanagh and in July police took more than 12 hours to attend a robbery because of the threat level in the area.

The PSNI are understood to planning to buy a second helicopter in light of the continuing dissident threat.

Military

Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Tom Elliott said there was now "a strong case" for a military helicopter to service Fermanagh and wider area.

"Undoubtedly we are living in dangerous times. Police personnel are facing a severe threat from dissident republicans, and I would never under any circumstances want to do anything to put their lives at risk," he said.

"However, I feel I have to question the continuing use of private helicopter firms as I believe that the use of military helicopters would be better equipped and more cost effective for the operations carried out by the PSNI which require air support.

"I will be asking my party colleagues on the Policing Board to put this suggestion forward to the security officials and I hope that they will evaluate the proposal accordingly."

Military helicopters were a common sight in border areas of Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

Woman questioned by MI5 in Spain

A young Fermanagh woman has spoken off her fear after being stopped and questioned by MI5 agents upon landing at a spanish airport when she went on holiday earlier this month.

She has spoken out about her experience in a bid to encourage the detectives not to persue her again.

The 22 year old woman was part of a large family group travelling to Spain.
When they landed at the airport, the woman was told that her passport needed to be scanned, and she was asked to follow a Spanish border guard.
He brought her into a room were two men were present.

She went on: "The border guard then left, closing the door behind him and left me in the room with two men.
At this stage, one of the men addressed me by name, and made references to my journey to Aldergrove Airport in Co.Antrim that morning.
He knew alot of detail about me, were i worked, who i had been going out with, all sorts of personnel details."

Then one of the men informed her he worked for British Intelligence whilst the other man placed a large sum of money on the table.

The woman continued: "They claimed that there only interest was in saving lives in Ireland and asked me to assist them in this regard.
I told them i could be of no assistance and would not meet them again."

She claims that they then told her she would probably change her mind about giving information when she returned home and had thought about it.
If this was to happen she was to contact Enniskillen Police station.

In all, the woman was detained at the Spanish Airport for around 20 minutes by the detectives, during which time her mother, younger brother, and sister, all waited anxiously for her to return.

The young woman explains that nothing like this has ever happened to her before and described her ordeal as a very unnerving experience and an unwelcome start to her holiday.
She was also angry that she was left in a room with two males, and felt there should have been a female present at the incident.
The womans solicitor has been informed of the approach.

Her father has also written a letter to the Spanish authorities demanding an explanation as to why foreign agents were permitted to questrion Irish tourists on Spanish soil.

Responding to the claims, a spokesperson for the PSNI explained:
"We do not comment on Intelligence matters and no inference should be drawn from this.
However, in line with all other Police services across the United Kingdom, the PSNI's policy in relation to the use of Covert Human Intelligence Sources is strictly goverened by the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and is fully compliant with Human Rights Legislation."

With regards to this matter Fermanagh 32csm would like to commend this brave young woman for coming forward with this information and highlighting that Britains dirty war against Ireland continues with the underhand cowardly tactics of terrorising an Irish Citizen while out on holiday in a foreign country.
Furthermore we condemn the Spanish authorities for allowing its soil to be used by British Intelligence to harrass and question Irish tourists whilst going on holiday there!

Clones Co.Monaghan due to its geographical position suffers serious deprivation at the hands of Partition.
Currently the area is in an ever tightening vice grip of a recession, affecting the vast majority of the community.

Young people have always been vulnerable to the negative effects of Partition, modern technology transport and communications mean this vulnerability may be exploited by more sinister individuals leading our youth in to serious crime.

Nationalist Residents Searched Going To Mass

The 32csm condemn the harrassment and intimidation of Nationalist residents of Newtownbutler in Co Fermanagh on Sunday 20th September when over 60 PSNI/RUC stormed the village heavily armed setting up road blocks on all roads leading to the Nationalist village.

Villagers were taken out of there cars while going to mass they were searched along with there vehicles children that were with there parents were left standing on the roadside terrafied at seeing there parents being searched by the PSNI/RUC.

The 32csm also condemn the harrassment and intimidation of the residents while trying to go to mass in Newtownbutler on sunday a number of residents were searched and stopped while going to mass they had there names and details taken and were late for mass.

The 32csm here in Fermanagh totally condemn these actions by the PSNI/RUC and we stand by and support the Nationalist residents of Newtownbutler and Fermanagh at this time!

SAS SEEN IN SOUTH TYRONE

A Dungannon Republican has told how he returned home on Thursday to find two armed Men dressed in fatigues with their faces blacked out running up a field behind his house.

The Man who wishes to remain anonymous says his Wife and Child had been walking the family dog when the dog became agitated around hedges in the field behind the property , when the mans wife started looking into the hedge two Men emerged wearing combat gear and carrying holstered handguns, a strange car was then seen arriving on a small country lane behind the field and the Men who were obviously under cover Soldiers made of over the fields towards it.

At this stage the Dungannon Man returned home and observed the men making their escape, his wife ran over to tell him what had happened so he turned the car around and sped after the car the Soldiers were heading for , he pulled up behind the car just as the men had got inside .

As The Dungannon Republican pulled up behind the car two uniformed members of the RUC/PSNI emerged from the car in front and approached the Mans car, he was taken out and searched under the terrorism act his car was searched and he was verbally harassed by the Members of the Crown Forces, as this was going on he could see the two Soldiers sitting in the back seat with hoods pulled up to hide their identity, the man was then released and the undercover Crown Forces car made off in the direction of Duncannon ,the man said he would be reporting the incident to his solicitor .

This is a very disturbing development in the past the Crown Forces used these tactics to set up Irish Republicans for Loyalist death Squads , undercover Soldiers were present when Roseanne Mallon was gunned down by a death squad lead by the notorious Loyalist murderer Billy Wright not 10 miles from the site of this incident It is obvious that the SAS is once again active in Republican East Tyrone as is the British Army a number of British Military helicopters have been seen in the skies over the East Tyrone area in this past couple of months with landings sited in remote rural areas, it seems East Tyrone is once again the focus of a British Military counter insurgency Campaign operations like the one uncovered by this Mans family is further proof of that Campaign.

Volunteers from the Irish Republican Army setup a checkpoint in the Republican village of Meigh last month.

The volunteers distributed leaflets calling on locals not to co-operate with the British occupying forces as well as pro British political parties. They have also sent out a stern warning to drug dealers and other anti-social elements, that their actions will not be tolerated and that they will be eliminated from society by their local IRA Brigades.

The IRA checkpoint has sent shock waves through the British security forces rank and file officers! An RUC/PSNI officer has warned of a serious breakdown in police intelligence after officers were allowed to drive into the IRA checkpoint without prior knowledge.

Three masked men carrying rifles were seen stopping vehicles at railway road on the outskirts of Meigh in county Armagh at 9pm on Friday. It is understood that an RUC/PSNI patrol car had driven to within 100 meters of the IRA checkpoint before turning back.

Last night one RUC/PSNI officer based in South Armagh said that his colleagues were relieved to have escaped being attacked but were furious that they had no prior warning of IRA activity in the area.

"We are getting vague briefings every single day that terrorists are highly active in and around Newry and South Armagh," he said. "But surely in intelligence circles should be fit to warn us if illegal vehicle checkpoints are being carried out in our patrol area.

"There were only three gunmen on the road but we know there would have been at least a dozen in the fields and hedges. "It doesn't bare thinking about what would have happened if the officers had driven straight into the trap."

The officer also spoke of the frustration at police intelligence failure to locate a heavy calibre tripod-mounted machine gun, which is known to be in the hands of the dissident republicans.

"We know they have a DShK machine gun and if they are out in daylight doing vehicle checkpoints then they would probably feel confident enough to bring out the big stuff and take us on," he said.

"They must think the intelligence services have taken their eye off the ball and no doubt someone will have to be killed before the proper resources are brought in to sort this out."

The Soviet made DShK fires 600 12.7mm rounds a minute and is capable of piercing armoured vehicles. SDLP assemble member Dominic Bradley condemned the IRA activity as a propaganda stunt.

A PSNI spokesman confirmed that a police patrol had encountered a number of armed men illegally stopping vehicles.

Members of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Cavan/Fermanagh have successfully dismantled a crime gang that had set up base in Cavan town and had been using young people in the Cavan town region to carry out a wide range of crime which included assaulting people, street drinking, breaking into people's houses to more serious offences such as drug dealing and stealing firearms from private properties.

This crime gang had five leading individuals that were influencing the young vulnerable people of Cavan to commit these crimes for their own personal gain,through the selling of drugs to extortion of money from businesses.

There were three of these individuals from Limerick one from Dublin and another from the Cavan area who had come into the Cavan town area after a falling out with other major Criminal gangs in Limerick and Dublin.

It was these individuals that prompted and influenced young vulnerable people in Cavan to start a gang and call themselves the TCRG which stands for "The Cavan Rebellion Gang".

After months of violent crime on the streets of Cavan and the attacks of innocent people the 32 County Sovereignty Movement were contacted by concerned residents from Cavan town too scared to contact the Gardai, and who were terrified to walk the streets of Cavan because of this anti social element calling themselves the TCRG.

Over the last number of weeks the 32 County Sovereignty Movement visited the homes and talked to the parents of some of these individuals who were identified to us as having been members of this criminal gang TCRG.

The 32csm sat down and talked to the parents of these individuals to explain that their children were seen in the presense of known criminals from Limerick and Dublin that had recently moved to the town and that these criminals were brainwashing their children to commit crimes against innocent members of the Cavan community and that this was wrong,and that the 32csm were there to help the parents and to engage with the youth of the area not to be getting involved with these criminals.

Within the last number of days a number of parents of those involved with the TCRG have come forward with there sons and daughters stating that they are no longer involved with this TCRG gang and that they will be advising others to leave the gang too.

We in the 32 County Sovereignty Movement welcome this recent development and we call for the remaining TCRG members to disband. The 32csm are happy to confirm that the five criminal figures that had moved to Cavan town from Limerick, Dublin and Cavan have now fled there homes in the Cavan area.

The 32 County Sovereignty movement will continue to monitor events on the ground and have our presense in the area should the need arise again.

And commenting on what the Chief Superintendent of the Gardai in Cavan John O Driscoll said recently about us being some sort of vigilante group, our organisation is a political organisation not a vigilante organisation which the Gardai would like to perceive us to be, we are a well established Republican political organisation throughout Ireland and we are dealing with problems like the one we have in Cavan on a daily basis.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement are not in the business of having a war of words with the Gardai on this matter, if the Gardai had have been doing there jobs and putting a stop to these criminals then there would have been no need for the 32 County Sovereignty Movement to have gotten involved in the breaking up of this criminal gang.

In conclusion we want to state that the 32csm will be there to support anyone or community that is under siege or that feel threatened by criminals or anti social elements in there society throughout Ireland.

The IRA in Tyrone have claimed responsibility for a shooting in the Coalisland area last week when shots were fired through a window in a house.

The Republican group said that their intention was to ‘execute’ a named individual who they accused of anti social activity. The IRA said that their members could not gain access to the house and so they fired through the window. They accused the man of being involved in criminal damage, drug dealing and indecent exposure to children. They also warned the individual concerned that if he did not leave the area he would be shot on sight.

The Republican group also warned anyone involved in anti-social activity in the Tyrone area to desist immediately or ‘face the consequences.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement would like to condemn the unprovoked attack by the PSNI/RUC on one of our members in Co,Fermanagh on monday evening last 04/08/09.

The man was out shopping with a friend when he noticed he was being followed into several shops in Enniskillen by a number of plain clothed individuals.After exiting a number of shops in the town he then noticed a large police presence in the town.

At that point he was surrounded by heavily armed PSNI/RUC who were very aggressive towards him with many of them with English accents.They called the man by his first name and said they were searching him under section 44 of the terrorism act inwhich he complied.

After the search he was let go and the man went on about his shopping,to his amazement he noticed he was being followed again this time by another couple of plain clothed people, at this point he became concerned thinking something was going to happen him or his friend and he exited the shop, as he did this he was surrounded by the PSNI/RUC and had to go through the same procedures again.

The man then became angry and so did passers by who had noticed what happened the man earlier and began to question what the Police were at and were told to FUCK OFF and mind there own business thats what there actual words were to members of the public.

The man was let go after being searched and continued to walk on up the street just as he went out of sight of the previous cops that had searched him the man was surrounded again and asked to comply again with another search his third search in 10 minutes on the same stretch of street under section 44.

The 32csm member then as a form of protest at all the searches sat on the ground, this then insensed the PSNI/RUC into a frenzied rage with them becoming very abusive to the man.
To shocked shoppers the man was then assaulted and arrested for not complying with the search.

A tense stand off occured for a short while between angered members of the public and the PSNI/RUC at this stage things became tense as young youths converged on the scene in support of the man arrested.After another 10 minutes the man was released without charge and let go on about his business.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement want to thank those members of the public that came to the assistance of one of our members.

This is another new tactic by the brits at tryin to break the growing growth of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Fermanagh. This tactic failed in the past and it will fail now miserably again as we are committed to our goals and objectives and nothing from the british arsenal will deflect us from our path!

It has been brought to the attention of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement of the serious rise in anti-social activity in the Cavan town region.

Over the last number of weeks our organisation have been contacted by concerned members of the Cavan public and residents who live in Cavan town too frightened to go to the Gardai about the criminal activity and anti social activity of a group of young people that calls themselves the TCRG.

Recently a number of very worried and comcerned residents contacted our organisation to see if we could help stop the activities of this criminal gang who have brought fear and terror to the streets of Cavan town.

Man asked to become an informer.

It has been brought to the attention of 32 County Sovereignty Movement members in Co. Fermanagh of an attempt by the PSNI/RUC to recruit as an informer a relative of ex Republican POW John Connolly.

John's relative who comes from Co.Cavan was driving through a part in Co Fermanagh when he was forced to pull his car in after being given the siren by the PSNI/RUC he was then subsequently arrested on road traffic matters and brought to Enniskillen PSNI/RUC station were he was put into a cell there.

After half an hour in the cell the man overheard people talking about his relative John and others in the Fermanagh/Cavan area.

Then his cell door was opened and he was brought to a small holding room were two plain clothes men who never identified themselves asked him would he have information on terrorist activity in the area the man comes from.
He said "no i know nothing" at this point one of the plain clothed men who had a scottish accent handed John's relative a piece of paper with a number on it and said "listen you can help us save lives" at this point John's relative refused to co-operate with anymore questions and asked to be released.

The man was subsequently then released from custody and came straight to the 32 County Sovereignty Movement and told them what had happened him.

Unwanted media harrasment of former Fermanagh Republican POW John Connolly

Fermanagh 32 County Sovereignty Movement would like to condemn the recent upsurge of unwanted and dangerous media attention that former Fermanagh IRA POW John Connolly has been getting from the Sunday World newspaper.

John got released from Maghaberry gaol in November 2007 after serving a 14 year sentence for possesion of a Mark 15 "Barrack Buster" Mortar bomb and having 250lbs of explosives. And since his release he has been getting constant harassment from the PSNI/RUC and also some unwanted media attention as was seen in the recent articles of the Sunday World.

Fermanagh 32csm believe this is a deliberate attempt by elements within the British security services in cohorts with the Sunday World to demonise John, and a calculated effort to try and smash the growing support that the 32csm have been getting from within the county and further afield.

We in Fermanagh 32 County Sovereignty Movement also believe that there could be a more sinister element to this which could be the every possibility of framing or setup of this man.
Maybe it is also a very deliberate attempt to have John's license revoked and have him sent back to prison, Whatever the reasons behind this unwanted media attention being directed against John Connolly we send our full solidarity and support to this man.

No Go Area For British Police

The PSNI are refusing to comment on reports that Police personnel will only be allowed to go into certain areas of South Fermanagh by helicopter.

The Impartial Reporter understands that the Police decision was taken because of a high level of Republican threat,Following alot of recent criticism PSNI Commander Michael Skuce appealed to Republicans to get of the communitys backs and let the Police do there job.

Last friday the Real IRA issued bomb warnings in Enniskillen.
And on Saturday the Continuity IRA issued bomb warnings in Lisnaskea and Maguiresbridge.

It has also been reported that the 32 County Sovereignty Movement regarded to be linked to the Real IRA has embarked on a recruitment campaign by putting leaflets through letter boxes in the Newtownbutler area.

"On friday afternoon telephone warnings of devices in Enniskillen and other parts of Fermanagh were made."Police immediately alerted the buisinesses that had been identified and shop staff carried out searches. Nothing was found in any of the searches" a Police spokesman added.

When asked if it was a change of policy to ask shop staff to search for potential bombs, the spokesman replied:"Police have long developed relationships with traders in terms of what to look out for and what to do should the need arise."The traders know there premises and stock and how to assist Police in carrying out searches."There should not be a need for such searches by traders or Police and those that creare that need must bear any consequences" he added.

A caller warning of devices left by the Continuity IRA said it was the second warning.

Police say that other calls that bombs had been left in rural areas continue."A clear and present high level of threat to Police officers exists in Co Fermanagh and we bear that in mind in our operations," the PSNI spokesman added.

Police sourses have said they will not respond to incidents in certain areas around Newtownbutler by road, but only armed Police personnel will be sent in by air.

However, the Police spokesman said "Given the threat, it would not be appropriate to comment on the operational decisions we take in relation to the deployment of resourses.".

On Sunday the 12th of July at approximately 8pm there was an Orange March through the centre of the village of Newtownbutler here in Co Fermanagh.

Tensions had already been high especially after the coat trailing exercise the previous week by Sectarian Loyalist bands that marched through the village.

The PSNI/RUC were there in force and then again on the 12th of July.

PSNI/RUC were very confrontational towards members of the 32csm here in Fermanagh, they were using camcorders and hi tec cameras to take videos and Pictures of our members.

With collusion between Loyalist british murder squads and the RUC confirmed in the past, the 32csm here in Fermanagh are concerned that this video footage and pictures taken by the PSNI/RUC of our members could fall into the hands of Pro British Loyalist death squads.

During the march PSNI/RUC intimidated and tried to provoke a riot by threatening Nationalist residents of the village.

They surrounded members of the 32csm and became aggressive to a number of our members during the march.

The 32csm here in Fermanagh reiterate that we will continue to oppose these sectarian marches in the Nationalist village of Newtownbutler.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement here in Co.Fermanagh would like to take this opportunity to condemn a loyalist band parade that took place in the Nationalist village of Newtownbutler on friday 3rd of July at 8.30pm.

Up to 15 loyalist bands took part in what was nothin more than a provocative sectarian coat trailing exercise to stoke up tensions in the area.

If proof was ever needed of the unchanged nature of both British Policing and the wider occupation, it was provided in the sleepy Nationalist village of Newtownbutler last friday nite.

The village was taken over by the new British Colonial Police force who hemmed in the Nationalist residents out to protest against the loyalist march.
Dozens of Paramilitary Police stormed the centre of the village exiting from the backs of armoured land rovers brandising batons and rifles in riot gear. While a British Army helicopter circled over head.

This could have been a scene from back in the 70s or 80s but it wasnt it was July 2009.

A number of Fermanagh 32csm activists who were in the village to monitor and help the residents were victimized and harassed and searched under section 44 of the terrorism act by the PSNI/RUC under the watchful eye of known Sinn Fein members who refused to come to the assistance of those being searched,this speaks volumes in itself.

We in the Fermanagh 32csm would like to commend the many young and old residents of Newtownbutler for standing up against what was an overwhelming number of Crown force personnel and large number of loyalist supporters that were drafted into the town to cause trouble.

Furthermore we state that in the future the 32 County Sovereignty Movement will have activists on the ground for future loyalist parades in the town to support the Nationalist residents of Newtownbutler.

The PSNI/RUC forced a loyalist parade through the Nationalist village of Newtownbutler on friday 3rd of July at 8.30pm.

A major security operation swung into place in the sleepy border village of Newtownbutler in South Fermanagh tonite as Nationalist residents went out to confront what they seen was a provocative act and coat trailing exercise by the Orange Order and there protectors in the colonial Police force, when they were set apon by riot claddin police brandising batons.

The young Nationalist youth rebelled against this Police aggression by launching a barrage of missiles including bricks and bottles at the crown forces who were protectors for this loyalist band.

Fermanagh 32csm were in the village to support and assist the Nationalist residents in there plight.

On a number of occasions members of Provisional Sinn Fein were seen trying to stop the young Nationalists from attacking the Colonial Police.

We in the 32csm here in Fermanagh would like to commend the brave efforts of the young Nationalists in the border village of Newtownbutler for standing up to overwhelming numbers of crown force personnel and for there resistance to these bully boys.

RUC/PSNI Harrassment

Fermanagh 32CSM would like to condemn the recent victimization and harrasment of our members in Co. Fermanagh. Last week a number of our members houses were searched and two members of our cumann were arrested by the Colonial Police Force/PSNI in the Enniskillen town area.

While the 32CSM here in Fermanagh and indeed the entire Republican Community are well used to this Political Policing we would urge the wider Nationalist Community to open their eyes and take a good look at what is happening around them. The State Police in Ireland are acting on behalf of the British State's political interests in Ireland, there is no seperation of Political Policing and "ordinary" Policing in today's RUC/PSNI.

We in the 32CSM ask all Republicans and Nationalists to reject this Political Police force. Fermanagh 32CSM will not be silenced, we will not be deflected or subdued. Republicans everywhere should follow our example and stand united against the onslaught that is sure to come with the devolution of Policing and Justice. In the words of the late great Brendan "The Dark" Hughes stay true to yourselves and stand by the Republic.

Attacks on PSF members Counter Productive.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement categorically deny that the litany of attacks on homes of PSF members and their property, culminating in Sunday nights attack on the home of Mitchell McLaughlin in Derry, are the work of anti agreement republicans. We also condemn, without reservation, attacks on monuments to our republican dead and other acts of wanton vandalism on republican monuments and state that those involved are guilty of crimes against the republican community.
Attacks on members of PSF, their homes or their offices are wrong and counter productive. The 32 County Sovereignty Movement are of the opinion that these attacks are being orchestrated by a dirty tricks department working in the state’s interest and being carried out by criminal elements.
These attacks do nothing to further the cause of republican separatism and serve only to polarise and divide republicans and republican communities. These attacks are taking place at a time when our members and supporters are winning the argument for republicanism against reformism, these attacks on PSF only deflect attention on their failure to protect the republican position and we welcome open, democratic debate on this issue rather than recrimination and tit for tat attacks that conveniently prevent debate from taking place.

E3 Prison Protest to escalate.
The current protest by republican POW’s on E3 landing in Portlaoise gaol is set to escalate following a ruling that yet another prisoner has been denied temporary release by the Free State department of justice. Last week two republicans prisoners went on a no wash/dirty protest over the politically motivated denial of temporary release, more prisoners were set to follow but an agreement was made between the Irish Prison Service and the Officer Commanding republican POW’s to call a temporary halt to the escalation of the protest in order to see what moves could be undertaken to end the action by the prisoners.
Earlier today the OC of the prisoners informed the IRPWA that the Irish Prison Service had come back empty handed and another prisoner was denied temporary release. It seems that the Department of Justice and the Irish Prison Service are committed to the policy of confronting republican prisoners.
We have been informed that all republican prisoners on E3 will join the protest on Monday. The POW’s had earlier stated that they would stagger men in pairs until the whole landing was on protest, the OC has informed the IRPWA that this is no longer the case as the prisoners now see no merit in this course of action.
The IRPWA call on the entire republican family to support the men in their protest and to support the IRPWA in a series of protests they are now planning, we thank those republican comrades who have already come out in support of the POW’s.
The Department of Justice and the Irish Prison Service are making a grave mistake if they think they can call these man’s bluff and they are guilty of a gross underestimation of the Óglaigh na hÉireann POW’s resolve.

It is with great regret that the IRPWA call upon the republican family to once again support POW’s in their protest against the blatant injustice of the Prison system in Ireland.
The IRPWA have been tasked by the republican POW’s to state how and why this protest has occurred and to clarify the facts of this protest.
A protest is currently underway on E3 Portlaoise due to the suspension of the temporary release (TR) and compassionate release (CR) programmes. It is the belief of the POW’s that this has happened due to IRA actions in the occupied six counties, indeed the Irish Prison Service have indicated this much and one of their spokespersons has even asked the OC of E3 if he ‘Believed in the border’!
The situation at present is as follows: Two republicans prisoners (Vinny Kelly and Justin McCarthy) are currently involved in a no wash/dirty protest, NOT on the blanket as some have suggested. At intervals republican POW’s will join this protest until the whole landing is on protest , at this stage the protest will escalate.
The Irish Prison Service representative and the Governor have asked the Officer Commanding to reconsider the POW’s stance pending talks with the Free State government, the only concession the POW’s have been willing to make at this stage is to delay further men joining the protest for a short period to give them a chance to resolve the issue. It is the understanding of the IRPWA that this window of opportunity is fast closing and we would urge all those involved in the Free State government and the Irish Prison Service to make strenuous efforts to resolve this intolerable situation as soon as possible.

A chairde, there are those who would say we are traitors gathered here to commemorate the actions of traitors. Pearse and Connolly were deemed to be traitors because the British trenches in the Somme were filled with Irishmen deceived into thinking that fighting in the imperial slaughter of the First World War would lead to Home Rule. Pearse and Connolly said it wouldn’t, and they were right, but still they were vilified and executed. Ninety three years later republicans once again state that the Home Rule strategy will not deliver Irish freedom. Calling us traitors for saying so from the steps of Stormont, flanked by Britain’s head policeman in Ireland, proves we are also right. We are immensely proud to share the views of Pearse and Connolly.

Once again British soldiers are being killed on Irish soil. Once again British soldiers are using Irish soil to train to kill in foreign wars. Once again establishment nationalists have moved to support the British regime in Ireland. Nothing has changed. Claiming that unity will be achieved by 2016 is similar to the deception employed to lure men to their deaths in the fields of Flanders in the lost hope of securing Home Rule. Nothing has changed here either. The men and women of 1916 fought for fundamental change. They were not reformists, but Irish separatists who articulated the basic republican message that our sovereignty is inalienable and indefeasable.

This year also marks the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the First Dail Eireann. The First Dail was the Proclamation in action. It was an Irish parliament of, by and for the Irish people. It declared our independence to the world and set about a radical social programme to cherish all of the children equally. It remains our blueprint for the future of our country and our people.

Our history is one of conflict because too often our history has been repeated. Political arrangements which usurp Irish sovereignty cannot lead to peace or freedom. Inherent in these arrangements is the attempted suppression of those who seek to defend our sovereignty. They murder us. They hang us. They intern us. They intimidate us. They malign us. It represents that familiar colonial chorus, ever desperate to maintain itself. Trading civil rights in return for recognition of foreign rule condemns our children to fight for that most basic of rights, their own freedom. The men and women of 1916 were not fooled or bought by the trappings of Home Rule nor intimidated by the forces of Westminster and her Irish lackeys. For them democracy meant more than an opinion poll rating or a gerrymandered election. The voice of the people can only be heard if it is freely expressed.

And this is the message which republicans need to articulate today. As republicans we need to put before the people our framework from within which Irish democracy can function without external impediment. We need to set our case against British occupation in a way which is relevant to our people’s needs today. Our aims cannot be solely the product of the past nor can they be a slave to that past. British reasons for remaining in Ireland will change according to modern British interests and republican strategies opposing these interests must adapt accordingly. But in doing so we cannot repeat the failures of history by compromising the legitimacy of our position for the appearance of short term gain. The British have no right to be here and our right to resist them is a matter for us to determine and not them.

We are constantly asked; what is your alternative? The answer depends on who is asking the question. To those who call us traitors we say; any alternative but yours. To those who call us anti democratic we say; let us negotiate without pre conditions. To those republicans who genuinely seek an alternative we say; let us construct one together. We must be clear that the Good Friday Agreement represents a significant defeat for republicanism. And in the face of this we need to be pragmatic and not reactionary. Recrimination is not an alternative. Working constructively together is. Along with other republican comrades the 32 County Sovereignty Movement has engaged in an initiative to forge a way forward from a unified republican position. The ideology behind it is the ideology of necessity. All republican banners are welcome because all republican banners are needed.

How we engage with the Irish people is as important as what we engage them on. From the outset the truth of what we say will be judged by the strength by which we say it. Eloquence and emotion are no substitutes to a unified voice. The politics of conflict resolution requires clarity to ensure that any resolution is just and democratic. Armed conflict is in existence because such a resolution has not been entered into. Neither republicans nor the British government can invoke the existence of armed conflict as an excuse not to engage in a process to find a final democratic resolution to the Anglo Irish conflict. We have to deal with reality as it is and not how we wish it to be.

Standing here in commemoration of 1916 let us invoke the clarity of the Proclamation as we now address the British government today. You must leave Ireland. If, as you say, you have no selfish, strategic or economic reasons for remaining in Ireland then there is no excuse for you not to leave. There is no problem in Ireland which demands your presence that the Irish people themselves cannot resolve. If you require a framework to allow you to disengage from our country we will construct one for you. But for this to happen you must go before the international community and renounce your claim to sovereignty over the Six Counties. A claim of sovereignty represents the bedrock of any strategic interest so let this be the basic test of your intentions.

We call on all republicans to realign ourselves around the securing of achievable aims. We have set forth a programme to rebuild the republican movement through political advancement. We have proposed that commemorating 1916 should be the annual barometer by which we measure our success especially in the run up to its centenary in 2016. Irish republicanism must be in a position on the occasion of this centenary to tell the Irish people that concrete political gains have been made toward making national reunification an unstoppable reality. The Proclamation is too important a document to condemn it to perpetual aspiration.

The Unity Initiative is the only realistic way forward. Armed struggle is a reality in our midst. We must address it for what it is, a symptom of the unwillingness of the British government to engage on the core cause of conflict, namely, its illegal claim to sovereignty over part of our country. For those who want armed struggle to cease they must come forward with proposals to address its cause. The politics of condemnation is a failed irrelevancy just as British micro Ministers are sitting in Stormont. The 32 County Sovereignty Movement have endeavoured since its formation to put such proposals into the public domain.

We sought a peaceful alternative through the auspices of the United Nations only to have that route disbarred to us when the US authorities, acting on influence from London and Dublin, banned our organisation from travelling there. But we are not deterred by this and efforts are underway to petition the Obama administration to reverse this policy. Because contrary to previous declarations made there, Ireland is not at peace.

We have sought dialogue with both governments, unionist and nationalist parties in an attempt to seek a peaceful way forward but these offers have been largely ignored. We thank all those who worked toward achieving this. And we say it again now; if you truly believe our position is so flawed come and tell us how, rather than grandstanding on media soap boxes. Our door remains open and we will not stop knocking on yours.

Comrades, the template of 1916 remains supremely relevant for us today. It was republican unity which drafted the Proclamation and allowed for the accommodation of its diverse views so magnificently. It was republican disunity which led to that fateful confusion on that day. They have given us the benefit of their foresight and the lessons of their errors. Let us leave here today all the wiser for both.

End The Conflict, End British Rule In Ireland
If the conflict in Ireland is to end once and for all, so too must the illegal British claim to sovereignty over the Six Counties. That has been made clear in light of the violent events of recent days. That the so called peace process failed to openly address this central core issue of conflict is the reason for its failure now. Attempts to cocoon the problem in a puppet British Assembly arguing along sectarian lines are doomed to failure. From the outset of this process the British government have moved to defend their illegal sovereign claim to Irelands territory. This was evident when they made it an absolute pre-condition that the entry fee into negotiations was the acceptance of a partitionist outcome. Once republican leaders acquiesced to this British demand the republican project within that process was doomed. As it limped from crisis to crisis its British and unionist credentials began to assert themselves. What also emerged was the clear fact that rather than accept their abject defeat in negotiations with the British, republican leaders dug deeper into the morass whilst making outlandish and unsustainable claims about achieving Irish unity by certain dates to keep supporters on board. It was a classic British trap. This British strategy has now reached its pinnacle with a Provisional Sinn Fein leader standing at Stormont, under the British flag, as a minister of the British crown, calling IRA Volunteers ‘traitors’ for continuing to resist British occupation.

We note the ritual chorus of condemnation emanating from Leinster House. Far from reflecting a unity of purpose it represents a bankruptcy of will from that institution to pursue the objective of a Sovereign Irish Republic. From its inception Leinster House abandoned the Irish people in the Six Counties. It abandoned them further under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. It evolved a politics which made it a slave to vested interests. It is economically on its knees because of financial and political corruption at the highest level. It has selectively spurned its own referenda results because it lacked the courage to represent those results to the political elite in Europe. From its inception the 32 County Sovereignty Movement has endeavored to place the issue of Irish National Sovereignty at the heart of the political process via peaceful methods. We sought to raise our concerns by pursuing our case at the United Nations only to have that peaceful route disbarred to us when London and Dublin petitioned Washington to have our organization declared illegal in the US. We petitioned all the main parties with detailed submissions but were met with silence. We sought peace. We seek peace, but we recognise clearly that this can only be achieved if true parity is brought to a negotiations process. Britain’s claim to have ‘no selfish, strategic or economic reasons’ to remain in Ireland is laid bare when one sees its use of Irish soil to train and dispatch British soldiers to kill in foreign wars. The British are not neutral in Ireland, no more than they are in Afghanistan or Iraq. To allow them to claim this, which the Good Friday Agreement does, represents a massive abdication of duty and responsibility by all those supposed nationalists who support it. The recent loss of life as a result of military action is yet another tragedy in the continuing conflict in Ireland. What is required to resolve it is an end to British Parliamentary activity in Ireland so that the people of the island can come to their own democratic arrangements as to how we govern ourselves.

British Army Incursion

British Army Incursion in County Monaghan.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement are calling on the 26 county government to clarify its position regarding British Army and police activities in the 26 county jurisdiction following the latest incursion by Crown Forces.

It has been reported that a British military spotter plane circled over the town of Clones in County Monaghan on at least three occasions between 10.00am and 1.00pm on Saturday 24th January 2009.
A large deployment of Crown Forces has been just over the illegal border for the last number of days in the nearby village of Newtownbutler following warnings that the IRA have left a rocket in the area.

Republicans in Counties Fermanagh, Cavan and Leitrim have been aware of RUC/PSNI patrols straying over the border on numerous occasions recently and this latest incursion is another blatant affront to Irish Sovereignty.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement would like to know if this incursion has been sanctioned by the 26 County administration as part of their war on Irish Republicanism and if so where does that leave their own claims to having sovereign integrity over their own jurisdiction and where does it leave their claims of neutrality given that a heavily armed occupation army and police force may be allowed to use their territory.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement not alone condemn the military wing of the British government for continuing these deliberate incursions but we also condemn the 26 county administrations failure to protect its sovereignty in 1998 and again in 2009 when attacks on that sovereignty are ignored , encouraged or even facilitated.

On behalf of the National Executive I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all our activists who campaigned so effectively for our goals during 2008. I choose the word effectively deliberately as I believe certain milestones in Irish republicanism were achieved during the past year. At the outset let me address the realities of our struggle by welcoming home the Derry 4 but in equal breath call for the immediate release of Terry McCafferty, Michael Campbell and all incarcerated Irish republicans. If ever a set of circumstances so described the nature of justice under partition it is these which do so with the greatest clarity. Partition is maintained by the establishments on either side of it which makes our struggle a thirty two county affair. A protest in Kerry is no less important than a protest in Belfast and in our efforts to build our organisation this is the message we must bring with us.

Our organisation has grown in 2008. We have reached into new areas and attracted new people who share our strategic vision. 2009 must see the Sovereignty Movement consolidate this growth and give it firm political leadership. The effective activism I speak of was visible in a number of areas;

A mature campaign for a No Vote against Lisbon.
The sustained protests on Prisoner issues.
The establishment of the Irish Republican Forum For Unity.

Our efforts at securing a No Vote in the Lisbon referendum were based on ensuring that the issue of Sovereignty and Partition were at the heart of our strategy. In doing so we made it clear that all issues of national relevance, be they concerned with natural resources or national heritage, can only be addressed in the context of National Sovereignty and that a resolution of one must contain a resolution of all. Sovereignty cannot be sub-divided.

Our comrades in the Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association facilitated our activists in holding protests and demonstrations concerning imprisoned Irish Republicans. We point to the successful intervention in the Aidan Hulme case and the release of the Derry 4. But the cases of Terry McCafferty and Michael Campbell loom large and require similar attention to secure similar outcomes. We send solidarity greetings to all imprisoned republicans but we will do so through continued activism on their behalf.

After long and searching debate the Unity Initiative bore fruit with the formal establishment of The Irish Republican Forum For Unity. At its inaugural meeting in Derry City the republican base could finally see the unity idea transformed into political action on an inclusive basis. A series of public meetings have been planned throughout 2009 to bring the Unity Forum to different areas so that the broad republican base can be instrumental in forging its political activity. The 32CSM will remain fully engaged with the Unity Forum and have proposals prepared to put to it for the coming year.

2009 will see us once again confronted with the Lisbon issue. Those who make the repeated charge that republicans should respect the ‘democratic’ wish expressed in the dual referendums on the Good Friday Agreement should have their hypocrisy thrown back at them. A second referendum will have the added issue of its democratic nature and once again the 32CSM will campaign to ensure that this undemocratic premise and that of Partition itself will be seen as one. Our analysis of the re-run Nice Treaty convinced us that only a Yes vote will satisfy the Dublin Government and having anticipated the inevitability of a second poll we had begun our preparations for our campaign soon after the No victory. I take this opportunity to formally launch ‘Countdown To Lisbon II’ as our effort in the forthcoming campaign. It will be a campaign which will focus on our original objections to Lisbon and also on the status of a second referendum as it relates to our National Sovereignty. We will also campaign for a No Vote by highlighting the extraordinary corruption and social bankruptcy of the Twenty Six Counties political and financial classes as it tries to convince the people that a treaty hewn from the same bankruptcy is in our best interests.

2009 will not see the ending of Partition. Neither will 2016. These are the realities which face us and they need to be recognised by all republicans. However, this does not mean that 2009 and 2016 cannot witness political achievements that will help us secure this objective. Acting within our limitations and acting together to reduce those limitations can greatly enhance our prospects to once again place the republican position back onto the national agenda. Wallowing in the past or afraid to grasp nettles is the stuff of cul-de-sac politics. There is no need to reinvent the republican wheel but we do need to reinvent ways and means by which our core message is given the weight of political activity behind it. We view the Unity Forum as one such means and we strongly urge that all republican groups engage with it so that 2009 can become a watershed in our history.
